Kane Strang – “My Smile Is Extinct” Video

“Yes, she is the best I ever had. I’ll say it to her face and I’ll say it to her dad,” Kane Strang sings on his new single “My Smile Is Extinct.” It’s a pretty appropriate title for a song that documents the instance of Strang falling asleep in his car and then waking up to his girlfriend confessing she cheated on him. For the single’s music video, directed by Julian Vares, the New Zealand native stares blankly into the camera sitting against a middle school yearbook photo setup. The video’s color palette is bright and glittery, matching the song’s charming melody-driven pop vibes. But just like Strang’s music, although sugar-coated and appetizing at first glance, the video is eerie and melancholic at its core. It’s from his upcoming album Two Hearts And No Brain, and you can watch it below.

Two Hearts And No Brain is out 6/30 via Dead Oceans. Pre-order it here.
