Tokyo Police Club – “Wait Up (Boots Of Danger) (DOM Remix)”

After young Worcester, MA fringe-cultural ambassador DOM dug into Glasslands I was left repeating that he “does everything right,” and this remix he filed for Tokyo Police Club’s racing Champ single “Wait Up (Boots Of Danger)” sorta extends the trend. More for the associations than the remix itself: Passion Pit’s already delivered a take on the song, and while I’m not sure DOM sees it like this (though it’s certainly no slight), he and his state-mates make for a logical pair; with Cloud Nothings’ rough-hewn gem “Even If it Worked Out” I said he’d look good on a bill with DOM (which comes to life at the Knitting Factory on 6/24, with Wavves headlining), but when DOM delves into his ebullient and hooky, spit-shined synth-pop mode (think “Living In America” or “Burn Bridges”) he doesn’t land far from Manners. With the Sun Bronzed Greek Gods EP he sorta splits the difference between the lo-fi and the laptop pop, with the sorta thrust you’ll find in this one from Tokyo Police Club. The remix itself doesn’t add that much beyond some keyboard twinkle, but it helps hone in on where his bits fit on the spectrum. Grabt it and the TPC original here:
