The Blow – “Ask Me” (Demo Version)

Since releasing Paper Television (you know, the one with “Parentheses”) the Blow no longer includes Jona Bechtoldt (who now focuses entirely on YACHT) and has replaced him with sound artist Melissa Dyne. But ultimately, as always, the project lives and dies by the pen and styles of Khaela Maricich. It’s been a relatively long gestation period for this next Blow record, but you can get a sense of the conceptual, performance art angle it’s taking via this review from last year’s “workshop” show at Glasslands. While there’s still no firm date on that release, nor details as to whether it will build on the workshop’s bizarrely compelling Lindsay Lohan concept, there is this new song titled “Ask Me,” here presented in demo Vimeo form, with rudimentary electronic backing beat and Khaela posing to a track playing her vocals. Get into it:
