One of the great, underrated bands of the last 20 years. Can't wait for the next one. Also, every story on Superchunk should come with a link to the video for "Package Thief."
Not sure she's big with the Stereogum demo, but no one slag her off too hard. My 8-yr-old loves Sia after she saw her do "The Girl You Lost to Cocaine" on Conan O'Brien (he used to have a show). Sia is a delightful little Oz nutball!
That song sounds like an outtake from the "Mannequin 2" soundtrack. Really well-executed, but... "Forced" seems an apt word for it.
Yeah, only I wish Fran Healy had not so quickly thrown away the map to writing clever, tuneful melodies and drawn up the new map of whiny, monotonous drivel. Just one more "The Men Who" would've been nice...
That's comedian Ross Lee with the shaved head -- he had a weird horror-comedy show in the UK a couple years ago called The Ghoulies (IIRC). The director, Peter Serafinowicz is very funny, too -- and he was the voice of Darth Maul in Phantom Menace.
The video is good, but the rest of last night's SNL made me wanna puke up my dinner of boiled goose.
It's on right now, and I'm in for a donation -- I'm hat-tipping Stereogum on my message. Not for nothing, but I think I saw Wurster (no Superchunk tab, amrit?) on a TV commercial this week where he played the indie-nerd dad sitting at the head of the table with his indie-nerd family.
The Clash's Paloma Faith? Come on, Stereogum. Paloma Faith was in the Jam! (I know, Bob -- I thought I read the same as you. Had to double-take.)
