I forgot to mention that I found the movie super anticlimactic. I mean we've invested at minimum what, eight movies worth of time in this story? They fight for a few minutes and they just walk around on a bridge for another minute while everyone else goes back to normal? Yikes.
Like I said before, I'm sure the end was WAY better in the books.
Also, I think Peter Jackson ruined fantasy battle sequences for me, cause wand fights just don't do it for me.
I'm interested in what (other) people who didn't read the books thought. It seems to me like the books are necessary to comprehend the movies, especially the last two. I'm assuming that a much richer tapestry was woven in the novels- but as an outsider, the items necessary for understanding the basic motivations behind the story are totally absent from the movies. So to me, most of the movies (especially the last one) come off as confusing and mediocre.
Or, I am just not smarter than a fifth grader.
I would invent a fake serial killer to get the mayor to spend money on the police department. Then I would divert that money to be used working cases that I couldn't get money or overtime clearance for before, like setting up illegal wiretaps on drug kingpins. What could go worng? Everybody wins!
I went to the southern hemisphere on my honeymoon, promptly got sick and spent a great amount of time with my head in a toilet. At no point did I ever think to check which direction the toilet swirled, and I may never forgive myself. Opportunities like that don't come along everyday, you know.
