I was expecting a disaster but I didn't think it was that ear-bleeding either. At least she sings in her comfortable range and not try to be "OMG!!!11LOOKI'mAROCKER222"
If listening to "softie" like Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, Antony, The National, Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear all the time is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Born This Way is a terrible pop album. Lifeless production, God-awful lyrics, and hideous album cover. Poker Face/Paparazzi/Bad Romance were great, but she just went downhill from there.
I still don't get the love for Adele. It's just very terrible-to-mediocre pop saved by a magnificent voice. With that said, Rolling in the Deep is one of the best of the year, hands down.
I actually like Katy Perry because she doesn't take herself seriously, and she's kinda funny. And I love Teenage Dream so that's just me.
And I have to agree on the James Blunt part. I can't stand that YOU'REBEAUTIFULOMG!!! song.
Rolling in the deep is an excellent song but the album is boring. If it weren't for adele's amazing vocals, it is probably worse. Just very boring songwriting. The weeknd has really cool sounds but the lyrics kinda kill it for me.
I listened to the album four, five times now, and I'm still not sure about the last track. The other 9 tracks are gorgeous though. Holocene is my favorite right now.
