The wife and I were singing "dick in her mouth" all weekend.
Not really interested in hearing about The War on Drugs playing anything except a song called "Mark Kozelek can Eat a Turd Burrito"
This feud has been played out for over a week now. I doubt the guys from War On Drugs give a shit at this point. Mark Kozelek seems like a wierdo.
Gonna go out on a limb and say she is probably a lot more interesting than his last girlfriend.
Had literally the exact same thought this morning as I was listening to GWS:TO for the first time in a while. Love Golden Greats but its too straightforward to be on the same level as some of their other albums.
This video should have been included in the post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYykIA1xVg
A lot of it comes down to whether you prefer Ween as a duo or a full band, although you seem to be a little all over the place since The Mollusk and Pure Guava are your favs. To me those first three albums had a lot of their most brilliant moments, but also a little too much filler. As far as ranking albums goes, there isn't really a right or wrong(as long as La Cucaracha is near the bottom). Chocolate and Cheese is the one that I guess would be the most mainstream and the one a new fan should probably listen to first so I could see a hardcore fan turning on it, but i don't think saying it is bottom half is all that absurd. For the record I was totally cool with Quebec as # 1 in that list. The Argus and If You Could Save Yourself... back to back was the best closing to an album since Abbey Road.
Sometimes I think about how into tupac and biggie I was in high school and college(I was more into them after they died) and how I never really listen to them anymore. IDK what my point is, I can say I've made 2 comments on this post and haven't even clicked the ready to die one yet(I still might...)
Anyone else think they didn't release their second great album until last year?
Starting to wonder if Morrissey might be a pain in the ass
I actually get what Earl is saying, just don't think it applies to this video at all. Also, I'm gonna go ahead and put it out there that I love the song.
Agreed, you can't talk about the hurt in those parents faces and then say you don't care about inflicting hurt into business owners by looting and destroying property. In fact Michael Brown's parents have spoken out against the rioting themselves.
Obviously none of us where there but that cop's story makes no sense. To jump into a cop car the second the cop opens the door and go after his gun... that's beyond criminal behavior, you would have to be psychotic. Hopefully the FBI gets involved and gets this right. The police seem like they are standing by their boy so far.
Just found out they are playing a street fest a few blocks from my house, I'll check them out.
I had no idea, my guess is Tom did tho
Interesting that Tom is so into "Rent I Pay". Def my least favorite of the three tracks they officially put out. Anyways, the first two paragraphs sum everything up perfectly. Spoon hasn't broken a lot of ground, but they have been so consistently great. Not solid, not good, but truly great. I don't get out to shows like I used to but I'm seeing Spoon on Friday. I'm thrilled.
Next level shit
Not the biggest fan of Sing Monica, along with Wombat which might be the worst song ever written. Right with you on everything else along with every other track on the album.
It's funny, I'm 30, been married for about a year and a half, and have been living with my wife for 4 years. I think about how my relationships with my friends have changed all the time. People I used to see damn near every day I now only see a few times a year. I thinks that's kind of just what happens though. I can say I would definitely be reluctant to invite a friend to stay for the weekend or even for the night. Even just hanging out with the wife and a friend is something I try not to over do. At some point one of the two of them will feel like the odd man out, even if it's just for a little bit. She is really cool with all of my friends but how long does she really want to listen to us talk about whatever dumb shit we are talking about right? That being said, your friend cancelling a prior commitment for this broad is wack as fuck.
Are we really just going to ignore the fact that my first comment in months resulted in my first top comment ever? Also, anyone else who hasn't listened to Phish in years find themselves listening to Fuego all week? I know I can't be the only one.
little known fact, most of the tracks on this album are about how it feels when Tony Parker sleeps with your girlfriend.
"a Song Of The Summer should have to get played on pop radio I think" Does anyone have the list of previous Song of the Summer winners to see if they all meet this standard? I thought Japandroids won two summers ago and I never heard them on pop radio. I can't recall any other winners besides "Get Lucky".
I kind of feel the same way about "Chandelier". Good song, not all that Summery to me. That LDR song isn't summery at all. "Talking Backwards" on the other hand...
I remember thinking you guys barely wrote about him when his last album came out but that could have been baseless. Did think it was interesting that not only was "Salad Days" not included in the top 50 albums of the first six months but not a single writer included it in their top omissions. Think it's fair to say 'Gum isn't as into Mac as say Pitchfork is. Not a complaint, just an observation...
I've thought about this too, they don't like him. I get it btw, I'm a pretty big fan and I still think he is a little annoying.
Didn't the guy who suggested "Talking Backwards" get a ton of plus 1's? Take a hint Stereogum...
Back in my day nickles had pictures of bees on them. Give me 5 bees for a quarter you'd say.
"Is that the one where the guy says goddamn mother fucker?" - My friend's mom when I was in 4th grade
Just to be clear, Kurt Loder is NOT dead right?
Just saw M_'s # 5 lowest rated comment and went through the Cloud Nothings post comments. Am I really the only one who thought reading about that interaction was great? I'm not that active here anymore so that was the first I saw of it so maybe I'd be sick of it otherwise, but IDK, I love hearing about shit like that... even if it was a one sided personal attack. I'd have to hear the other dudes side or read more about him to judge, but for now I'd be on team _. Honestly, god forbid someone make an entertaining comment that disparages a band you like. Kanye West is almost definitely a D-Bag IRL but I'd still consider giving him an HJ if he asked me to b/c I love his music so much. It's ok if musicians we are fans of turn out to be assholes, they are entertainers. As much as we want to imagine hanging out with so and so band they aren't our friends.
A better way to prove you aren't racist might be to talk about some of the black kids he got to know and learned something from, I guess the black kids and white kids at his school just beat the shit out of eachother... To be fair, he did say the interview wasn't verbatim, maybe if you heard what he said in person it didn't sound as bad?
So when he said he preferred rappers to be more ghetto he was talking about white rappers? Calling BS.
Read what he said again, your point about Drake is totally valid. That isn't what he said though. Plus look at the entire next paragraph when he talks about the kind of rap that he likes. The Honky thing on it's own I might not have much of a problem with but after reading his thoughts on rap it just makes him sound like an even bigger douche.
Peckerwood is totally not cool though, we all agree on that right?
Putting aside the fact that I am a Drake fanboy, his comments on Drake and hip hop in general are unbelievably ignorant. Let me get this straight, unless rappers are from the "ghetto" they are fake? Why is it ok for a white rock guitarist to be from the suburbs and not a rapper? It sounds like he is more comfortable with the idea of black people who are poor, ignorant, and live far away from the neighborhood he grew up in. I'd bet anything the suburb he grew up in was whiter than 2 % milk. Also the part where he bitches about the term honky makes him sound like Michelle Bachman complaining about gay people bullying her.
I have heard St. Vincent and Beck, for me it's a no brainer for St. Vincent.
I'm gonna be out of town for Friday/Saturday so there is a good chance this will be the first pitchfork I don't go to in six or seven years. So that will be one less douche bag at least...
She wasn't the headliner, R Kelly was. Also, for the record, seeing Glass Candy over M.I.A. last year was one of the best decisions of my life.
