"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Mr. White at Hector Salamanca's nursing home last night."
I hear you, but Christianity and Judaism are premised on basic, very prevalent themes: an omnipotent god, and a virgin birth. That's not exactly aliens and space ships and hydrogen bombs and aliens in your bloodstream.
Exactly.
Also, did anybody watch the last season of House for the same reason?
Because...

...they ended the same way!!!
Relevance? Why did Gabe post it? Why is it funny? Isn't it because of the manner in which the kid acts and speaks? Because he's "flamboyant," right? Really, do we need to use code words here? I guess so. That was kind of my point. I wanted to see whether people would object to me explicitly pointing out why the video was posted, knowing that there is a small group of people on this site who go around trying to show just how more progressive they are than you.
"He's a kid"? Yeah, he is, and I think it's really great that he accepts who he is. He's attracting views on his YouTube page by being comfortable who he is and even playing up a persona. And that persona is flamboyant. Or call it whatever you want.
My comment was G-rated and in no way reflected any actual negative feelings towards gays. I'm pretty sure that neither of the commenters nor any of the downvoters are actually gay. Because gay people know what real homophobia is.
My initial comment and this one go to a larger issue. I love this site and I think the commenters here are brilliant, but there is a small contingent who can't help but show how progressive they are at all times. Which is a weird thing to do on a website where pretty much everyone has the same position on social issues. I shudder to think how Norm MacDonald, Larry David or Louis CK would fare here as anonymous commenters.
Very loosely related to the point it is almost a non sequitur, but here goes...
I once encountered an anti-semitic "dancer" at a "gentleman's club." She began dancing for me in the middle of a song. She asked what my ethnicity was, and I told her I was Jewish. When the song ended, she got up and asked that I pay her. I said, "Hey, that wasn't even a full song!" She responded: "You *are* Jewish."
My reaction, whenever anybody talks about the good old days, is to say: "Yeah, unless you were black, homosexual, female, or Jewish. Then things weren't so swell."
I will trade away the ability to leave my front door unlocked in exchange for equality and civil rights. Thanks.
Those DirecTV ads are good!
As for the Sorkin article, yeah, he comes across as a doofus. But I don't think the writer comes across all that great, either, to be honest. He definitely writes better dialogue than she does.
How has nobody mentioned that for years it was rumored that the brother on Small Wonder was Billy Corgan! Which was obviously untrue but still fun to tell everyone. OK, you got me, I'm responsible for 75% of the spreading of that stupid rumor.
What a terrible show that was. Although I do remember enjoying the episode where the family is visited by Mrs. Lawson's ex, Jesse 'The Body' Ventura.
@ matthew
He isn't being prosecuted for the alleged crimes, but the plaintiff is alleging that Travolta engaged in criminal conduct. So yeah, these are crimes (if they happened).
If you do something that violates the criminal code, it's a crime. Whether you get prosecuted for it is another story.
I wonder if the fact that Joff is even worse in the show than he is in the books is a function of the fact that the actor looks a lot older at this point than the character is supposed to be.
In the books, Joffrey is pretty nasty for a 13-year-old. But now that he *looks* 18, maybe the writers feel like he needs to be even more of a sadistic prick?
Just a thought. I've been wondering about it.
