Been kind of a rough week... I got sick and have had to come to work anyway. Yesterday I got my first official rejection from a school for a doctorate program. Then in a study group, a fellow student casually mentioned he had a book coming out next week, and was kind of withholding of info so that the rest of us would ask him and be all impressed. Having just received said rejection, it did make me feel pretty lousy and unaccomplished, until I got home and googled his book and found out it was very new age and semi-about ancient aliens!
Today's been spent reading his book online and trying not to laugh from my desk.
Also, Bay Area monsters, they are opening a Cat Cafe in San Francisco sometime this year:

Yes, you can pet and feed the goats. They are named Sakura and Chocolat. Here's a little article about it: http://en.japantravel.com/view/sakuragaoka-cafe-shibuya
The Beetle Cafe is a real place in Nikko, and it looked creepy.

In addition to Cat Cafes, I also saw the following animal cafes on my trip to Japan this month: Bunny, Goat, Owl, and Beetle. Here is a photo of the goat cafe (they were cleaning out the cage):

Speaking of Game of Thrones, George RR Martin owns a little indie movie theater where I live, and he's been screening Episodes of GOT every Monday night, with special guests (last week Aria and one of the wolves were there!). I really want to go, but people are crazy and line up for days to get in (it's a really small theater). It's a weird thing being so close to this amazing weekly event while knowing I don't have the time to participate in it.
I was in Japan for 3 weeks and it was great, but now I'm back at work. I came back to an unexpected raise though, so not complaints! I do, however, miss hot vending machine coffee cans and melon bread for breakfast every morning.
There was a very funny callback in a recent episode: Marge informed Lisa her food was getting cold. When Lisa stated her raw vegetables are supposed to be cold, Marge stated someone who loves you was adding hot butter to her food. Marge is shown thanking Mr Bergstrom and stated she would inform Lisa that he came by.
