A broad, complacent, admiring imbecility breathed from his nose and lips.

Comments from Y B B

It's been so gross. Dead crane flies everywhere.

GG Allin makes Marilyn Manson look like Tobias Jesso. You are the light by which I travel into this and that.

There's nothing like making SUD for intentionally obtuse comments. In extremely California news, I had all sorts of nasty dead bugs and leaves and such floating on top of the water in my pool. It occurred to me that while I'd faithfully cleaned out the strainer basket on the pool pump, that only catches whatever the vacuum robot sucks in off the bottom. I hadn't emptied the skimmer basket in a year. Reader, it was pretty fuckin' gross.

Not sure, but your next listen should be either _Red_ or _Discipline_.

How can we have an SOTW writeup for a hardcore band not written by Tom? That shit just ain't right, even if it's Mikey Nels.

Hey nerds, I became aware this week that the King Crimson catalog finally is being made available on streaming services. It's only live albums up so far, but go dig Absent Lovers: Live in Montreal 1984 if you want to know why all four members of the 1980s band (Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Bill Bruford) were all over some of the most important art-rock of the late '70s and early/mid '80s. (Think: 2/3 of the Berlin Trilogy, Scary Monsters, Remain in Light, Peter Gabriel's first four albums, David Sylvian's Brilliant Trees and Gone to Earth.) https://open.spotify.com/album/0XcgX2u5ItX9BbiolW3jdd

"Tommie" definitely lights the Yachtsignal. It's a bop. "Supernatural Babe," meanwhile, is some very well done power pop. Every Day It Feels Like I'm Dying was low-key one of my favorite records of 2018, so I'm not surprised that Yun's solo stuff is quality. BTW that sax solo comes after the bridge. The chord progression clearly is the same as the verses.

April 19, 2019 on Jason Bonham Retracts Howard Stern Anecdote About Jimmy Page Giving Him Cocaine When He Was 16
I judge all music videos on one very important basis: How much do they remind me of Missy Elliott? More things in life should use this rubric. I've got a Request for Proposals going out for some dreary technical work; it still hasn't hit final issue yet, so I think there's time to wedge one more question into the scoring chart. Does this put your thing down, flip it, and reverse it? 5 points: It's wearing a Motorhead T-shirt. 3 points: I need a glass of water. 1 point: QUIIIIII-YETTTTTTT!

I think there genuinely was an attitude of "Well, anything goes now, as long as nobody gets hurt, right?" I think there genuinely wasn't the same understanding of teenagers as non-adults that started to emerge in the '80s and especially the '90s. Guys like Iggy and Bowie genuinely thought they were having sex with a consenting party, whereas Page thought it was cool to stick things inside of unconscious women's vulvas.

April 18, 2019 on Jason Bonham Retracts Howard Stern Anecdote About Jimmy Page Giving Him Cocaine When He Was 16
The thing is, Bonzo's death shocked Page into kicking heroin. (Compare him in "The Song Remains the Same" and in the film of the Knebworth concert in '79 and you can see pretty easily what happens when you replace most of your calorie consumption with heroin.) This alone makes the story ring slightly false for me.

April 18, 2019 on Lizzo Really Is The Whole Damn Meal
Anyone else think that Page's current thin skin might stem from the fact that LZ are thisclose to being cancelled forever because of greater awareness of the heinous shit he pulled with Lori Maddox? Page is incredibly protective of Zep's legacy, not least because he was the group's undisputed mastermind (regardless of how many riffs JPJ actually wrote).
