'80s adult-contempo rock production is horrifying. The arrangement might've been OK, but the sheen on it makes it unlistenable.

Perhaps the Go-Bees got the name from the pub, then.

"Liberty Belle" might also be a Go Betweens reference. The Go-Bees are a lodestar for literate rockers everywhere.

Five seconds of Googling shows that my ancestor Richard Stockton almost certainly owned the piece of land yr house is on.

Clapton covered "After Midnight" again in 1988 as state-of-the-art schmoozy studio-rock, and it's horrendous.

Same here. Not that I really had much time to watch football anyway.

Your boy Cass chose to write a song about the most hideous part of California. I have an ancestor who was sheriff of Kern County in the 1870s. I wonder if he got deputized into the posse summoned to catch these dudes.

It's like one of those '90s music videos with the band leading a parade, except actually awesome.

This is not surprising. I bet you're not super pleased at the Stereogum stylebook defining NorCal as everything north of the Tehachapis, though. (I recognized Pixley because the program I manage has a bunch of irrigation pump accounts there and in nearby cosmopoles like Terra Bella and McFarland.)

Based on your avatar, you would know very well about fluke-women. X-Files related: when I commented the other day about how I could not get over PG&E's now-former CEO being named "Geisha," this snippet of dialogue from that episode with the robot cockroaches kept coming to mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSY95on-aqA

That's some pretty brutal traffic. Depending where you are in Oakland, I'm thinking that you'd either slog west up 13 (which is a very pretty parking lot at morning rush hour) to the Caldecott Tunnel and pick up 24 to 680; OR backtrack east on 13 to 580 and then pick up 680, and I know that going north from Dublin and Pleasanton on 680 is hellacious, even after you get past all the Bishop Ranch traffic in San Ramon. I know living in Oakland is fun and all, but...Martinez isn't that expensive, and Benicia and Vallejo are downright reasonable. Lots of artists have moved to Vallejo in recent years, allegedly.
