See, I don't really think that Colbert is making fun of PEOPLE, rather of the sensationalized highly biased news industry. I think he's satirizing the culture of Fox News rather than particular correspondents.
They're both making fun of society. Maybe I worded the analogy wrong, but Colbert shows the ridiculousness of loud-stubborn-oft'conservative-pundits and Bruno shows the ridiculousness of homosexual stereotypes and the way society regards them.
As a lesbian who owns both seasons of Da Ali G Show on dvd, I'm not offended at all by him. And as a VERY outspoken anti-censorship advocate, I think this is exactly the kind of movie that's necessary.
Colbert does it for conservatives, Bruno does it for homosexuals. Sometimes you have to see conventions pushed to absurdity to realize the absurdity that lies in them normally.
Gawd I sound obnoxious. I end there.
Okay....so, this isn't something I tell just anyone, but....my dad is a big deal in the Barbershop society. He was Barbershopper of the year 2004 and was at one point the vice president of SPEBSQSA, or Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. And here's the thing....I HATE a capella/barbershop/vocal jazz/what have you. And it's become this big deal in my family because I disappoint him by not being involved in the society.
^All that to say.....these guys ruin it for everybody. This is why a capella music sucks. Because people have the mentality of "This song is really awesome, but do you know what would make it better? Taking out all the cool things of it"
When the fake-rap movement ends, I say we start a popular-music-a-cappella'd movement.
Exactly. I'm not going to try to explain why Tim and Eric is funny (I don't think those guys can) but I know that neither of them get some kind of sick thrill from taking advantage of people. That's just now what it's about. It's about entertaining, and if you don't find it entertaining, that's okay.
Nope
I mean, love Conan. Watched him every day since I started. But Fallon is just more...fun, I guess. The Roots are rockin, AD Miles is hilarious, it's just a great show.
Wouldn't those parents be proud if she was like, the BEST porn-star in the world. I mean, success is success, right? I'd be proud if I had a kid who happened to have mad talent at pole dancing.
I miss the old format. Now it just feels Soup-ish. PFT is funny, but it's the kind of thing that I'll only watch when I have absolutely nothing else to do.
Doug Benson should be on more, and The Sizzler should not exist anymore.
When I watch this, I wonder who in the world wouldn't like him. I mean, liberals, conservatives, anyone. He's a genuine guy who just wants to help everyone out by entertaining. He's a true American hero.
APOLOGIST ALERT:
I happened to love the movie. Danny McBride is the star, no matter how they want to bill it. His perfection makes up for the rest of the pitfalls. I laughed a LOT at it, mostly at Danny and Jorma.
I really wish people would see the movie instead of deciding it was bad arbitrarily.
I might get arrowed-down for this, but I think you guys should give Fallon a chance. AD Miles is his head writer and shows up every once in a while (do yourself a favor and watch 7th Floor West on the show's NBC page) and The Roots bring down the house constantly. Plus he has awesome guests. Just give it a chance.
Can Michael Cera play Waldo? For some reason I can see that being funny (not that Michael Cera is a particularly good actor, but his character is much different than the one I'd assume Waldo has).
