I think I just wet my pants
Jesus is getting snobbed
John Mayer is never not trolling the world.
Pumped about the return of weekly Kanye? DUH.
Yeah I don't get it. Timbaland, Waka Flaka Flame, Usher, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj? Was this listed written by the Rolling Stone???
Sigur Ros returns? So there is a God.
Sellouts - bands that write pieces of orchestral score. Note: There is a common misconception that bands that make #1 records, win Grammies and headline festivals are sellouts. The truth of the matter is that any band doing a thought experiment on a fiction national anthem is selling out.
I have emotion and passion. That's a joke for the record.
Why make something like this such a limited release? I can't wait to hear it. I bet the Tame Impala collab is good.
I could not agree more about Tommy Emmanuel. I can certainly imagine Skrillex being the same way. I'm imagining an Emmanuel and Skrillex collaboration...I want to die inside.
"I know much more about how to appropriately name a Fiona Apple album than she does" - Foolish Human!
I'm glad there's a Stereogum post that has generated so many positive comments. Who could hate Beach House? God, they put me to peace.
HA! I have a very hard time believing that Bradford Cox did this as a publicity stunt. He did it because he felt like doing it. In fact, judging from his interview with Pitchfork, he seems fairly pissed off that the incident was deemed noteworthy.
Jacques Derrida doesn't have anything to do with this article. If his thinking has informed this in any way, then it is very indirect. The term has grown past the meaning it had during his development of it in the 60s and 70s. It's a larger word with a wider meaning in contexts outside of academic philosophy. In the context of this article the word deconstruction seems to make sense. The author is trying to tear apart the stereotypes, the image, and the personalities surrounding Sleigh Bells to see if he/she (?) can make sense of them.
This album is unhinged, disordered, murky, and slightly insane. I LOVE IT.
If that's what they are, then they make it work. They're a fantastic live band.
You picked the three albums I was thinking of. I'm scared. I think Lion's Roar wins out though
How about "Young Dreams" by Young Dreams"?
According to wikipedia Bright Eyes formed in 1995 so I'd consider 2005's "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning"
Yeah, I'm sure those are more up his alley than peace and love.
I think he should have changed the line to "i love poopy poo."
Fuck Rolling Stone Magazine!
Drake and Waka Flocka did a song together?
Maybe we could also pray for Them Crooked Vultures...I'm setting myself up for let down.
How about Waka Flaka shares the stage with Phil Collins as the day 3 headliner? With special guest 311.
I have a friend you played at a coffee shop one time. Maybe he could headline?
Yeah, I did. Hmm, do you know of another way of getting it?
SIGUR ROS!!! Also, the name of the Rick Ross album...
Anyone else having difficulty downloading track 4?
You cannot be serious about Minaj on that "Dance Ass" song. the only reason anyone could misinterpret her verse as anything other than absolutely terrible would be because the rest of the song is bullshit. That's the worst song I've heard all year. Big Sean is a joke and Minaj is way overrated. She was great on "Monster" and that's really about it.
It's okay, but that's a really weak hook for a single. It's not getting me very excited for album #2...
Where can I go to avoid Waka Flaka Flame?
"Holocene" and "Lonely Boy" are great songs but...both videos are boring. "Montana" is incredible though.
This is a great list, indeed. I do hope someone else thinks "Sleep Forever" by Portugal. The Man deserves some list action.
That's a damn good song but "HiiPower" tops all hip hop songs this year.
I think Father, Son, Holy Ghost is one of those albums where anyone could pick any song off of it and call it their favorite and I wouldn't have a beef with it. I think people like "Vomit" because its a powerful rock ballad and we live in 2011, a time when it's hard to find good songs like that.
How does an EP get on an LP list anyway?
Lists need to hold off until the year is actually over. The Roots and The Black Keys both released damn good albums this week, but they won't be getting any love.
