Happy that Arcade Fire, Gesaffelstein and Disclosure all got nods, despite detesting this ridiculous excuse for an award.
That was an amazing performance, and yet she makes it look like nothing compared to her non-televised shows. Seeing her in a tiny venue is mental; talking to the audience and making direct, prolonged eye contact with audience members, holding people's heads or hands, and going MENTAL during Krokodil and thrashing about in the crowd. Everyone, pls go see St Vincent
THE LISP IS GONE AND I LOVE IT. I JUST WANT TO WRITHE AROUND ON THE FLOOR AND LISTEN TO THIS ALL DAY AND NIGHT. THIS SONG DEFIES PALTRY TITLES LIKE SOTS. GO IS SOTY. FROTHIN 4 GRIMES.
I bought the vinyl and it's great and everything, but the album doesn't hold up nearly as well. Since I've bought it, apart from the initial few listens, I've found that I mostly just put it on to show people what it does.
I wasn't a huge fan of An Awesome Wave, but this is KILLA. Miley/Alt-J love seems to be reciprocal. She uses 'Fitzpleasure' during the intro of her live show.
It's a bit tragic that her tv performances don't really translate the brilliance of her live; I saw her last week and it was absolutely brilliant. Possibly the best performance I've seen.
Gretchen, stop trying to make 'monogenre' happen! It's not going to happen.
Listen up. (Also, my account is linked to facebook. IDK how it works. it just does.)
I saw it for 245, but that's in Australia, so probably much, much cheaper.
This is ridiculous. LCD is getting a wide vinyl release next month. Also, King Giz are excellent. I'm not surprised that it's selling for so much.
I really liked this video; until this point, I loved the album but Sky's always felt more like a made up figure. This awkward-gangster dancing and fake tough stuff kinda humanizes her for me. Shows that she has a sense of humour, I guess.
I'm glad she's ditched the awkward canned strings and beats thing. This sounds less forced. I like.
I actually really enjoy this; Iggy doesn't really make much of an impression but whenever they perform it their charisma just carries it because they're so goddamn cool.
I'd be really happy with that. I'm 17 in Australia, and generally our festivals that welcome under 18s are few and far between; When they do come around, you're expected to shell out $200 to go be crowded by bogans who don't know or care who Cults are.
It's not really as if Lorde was rolling in it before she released music though.
Holy shit! I need to learn this dance.
It's been a top year for British music. Any of that first 6 + Savages would have been perfect.
I reckon a Grimes cover of 'Girls on Film' would be excellent.
Arctic Monkeys' AM is definitely influenced by past sounds but they're legitimately making waves with guitars. AM is number six (??) on the US Charts and Number 1 in the UK and Australia.
Oh, and Hannah Hunt by Vampire Weekend! It's not exactly an anthem, but the relaxed-ness and summery vibe of it does it for me.
Hmm.. Riptide by Vance Joy Get Lucky by Daft Punk It All Feels Right by Washed Out Latch by Disclosure All You're Waiting For by Classixx Summer is Done With Us by Palms (!!!)
You should do this with Foals, they have a cute warm-up dance.
The album's been out for a couple of years in Australia, it's absolutely fantastic. I'd say it'll likely feature in a few year-end lists.
Full Version/Not so full quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJWL9Pwey90 I don't understand hating Del Rey for the sake of hating Del Rey. It's a well done cover, and it proves that maybe, JUST MAYBE, she doesn't warrant the hate.
He played solo shows in Australia earlier this year..
I really liked Congratulations. It's a better product than if they were forced to reuse the ideas from Oracular Spectacular. I have no idea why everyone hated it so much.
Try saying that come the 'Best of 2012' lists. I guarantee you, this is another case of the Vampire Weekend-s. Loads of pre-album hype that actually IS true.
Hm. Everyone seems to forget the Hot Chip, Bernard Sumner & Hot City collaboration, which was great. Pharrell, JC & Santogold was better than expected, Rostam, Kid Cudi & Best Coast sounded better on paper then it did as real music, Hot Chip, Bernard Sumner and Hot City was a good song, but basically a Hot Chip song, But Soulja Boy, Matt & Kim, and Andrew WK just don't fit. Even if you took out one of the artists, regardless of which you chose, it still wouldn't work.
I think the sound doesn't fit the lyrics. The original was great because the lyrics were disturbing, but the music was bright and colourful but at the same time detatched and unearthly. This is just stupid.
Um.. 2009 was Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. Unescapable during that summer. Abducted by Cults. Machu Picchu by The Strokes.
NO I CAN'T EVEN IT'S JUST NO
The Adele video is amazing.
