They also just threw In Rainbows up on spotify for anyone interested.
I know a good chunk of people liked shriek, but hearing that it's more civilian makes me very excited. She's a guitar wizard
That production is just the absolute worst. Calling it generic is too kind.
"Undercover of Darkness" is such a great The Strokes song. It might not have that energy of say "Reptilia", but damn if it's not a top 5 song by them.
Anything Modest Mouse for this one is cheating, as it all fits.
I don't know, "Lost Cause" and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" are both super duper at making me feel not great.
It's, understandably, a fan favorite over there, but Wye Oak's Strangers. Something about talented women+guitars+av undercovers does it for me.
She murdered this. It obviously sounded good, but man, her singing and guitar playing were on point. Such a talented woman.
I really, really liked this. Their other song may have been more classic sounding The Strokes, but this "made in some 80s science lab" noise gets me.
First off, Goddammit. Second, that song had a weird timeline where Bruce Springsteen and Madonna were way before Nirvana.
Last Summer hit hard music-wise for me, but geez is this one getting started off in all the right ways
She's doing this just so we all know what one of her homes looks like, probably.
I've loved the shit out of what they've released so far, and nowI find out the chick from Slowdive's involved. It all makes sense.
A Nick Drake sounding Radiohead, I'll find you if this comparison isn't correct.
Naw, I get it. I don't dislike him, nothing just really grabs me though. Name of the game I suppose
I think if they would have included those b-sides, which are all fantastic songs, the record would be looked at differently, but in a good way. But Radiohead just love their excellent b-sides.
118 comments for a blink 182 song, this kind of surprises me. It's, idk, fine. It sounds like a lot of generic radio fodder, which bums me out because they typically made a lot of catchy music that stood out well enough. Oh well
Going Away to College is my templet for a sappy love song. That chorus gets me every time.
What a drag, such a monster of a lineup.
I don't how if I'd call the YYYs a hardcore band though, just all kinds of stylized, nasty garage. This band, man, this band is something else entirely, which is far from a bad thing.
Dilly's the song that plays in my head when I think of Summertime, it's so good.
That Mew-Deafheaven description is extremely accurate, which means this is awesome
RTJ over EL-P's harsh beats will always work, but if they decided to take a detour over a few smoother sounding jams like this, I wouldn't be upset.
Hopefully she doesn't think it's too boring. Some of her best stuff comes from that downtempo, synth-y realm.
Unbelievers for accessibility, Hannah Hunt for song of 2000whenever
These guys sure do like their Texas, thankfully.
Tim Hecker and Andy Stott in one day, a spoiled lot we are
And we're the bystanders who get to view that scene and smile
Melodies as far as the eye can see, it's beautiful
That beat around the ~1:10 mark, I feel like they had fun with this one.
Infectious, injections, same thing
I can't not be happy listening to those melodies. Injections is an understatment
Holy crap, Ariana's Jennifer Lawernce impression, are you kidding me with how accurate that was?
O.N.E. is the best example of this. These guys definitely got a knack for making catchy hooks that sound like that they were made on some other planet.
Not artistically significant enough, unfortunately
Throw Fall Be Kind on there, just for good measure
It's, in my opinion, a better Centipede Hz. The production and all around zany feel of things is still there, it's just better. Hype them ears up
