Thanks, I was wondering who the unnamed artist was. That's some great sleuthing, Stereogum puts the Gum in Gumshoe.
"The restraining order claims that sent harassing phone calls, emails, and texts to Elson, her attorney, and her attorney’s paralegal, “pressuring her about the settlement terms for the divorce.” That who sent harassing phone calls? I'm guessing based on context that it's Jack White, but I just want to make sure.
Totally agree with you. Hummer has always been my favorite.
The Postal Service and Death Cab will always make me nostalgic for the days of my youth. I first saw Death Cab in a tiny little venue in Portland with only about 50 people in attendance. I honestly thought they sounded bad live, but I still loved them. Give Up was such a refreshing, fun marriage of Death Cab and the electronic ish music I started liking at the time. There's no reason for me to use < or compare the two, they exist for me independently and each equally gives me happy, sappy butterfies.
Ugh. I worked there all through college and T.G.I Friday's is the restaurant equivalent of some dude from Jersey Shore. I'm not surprised.
I dunno, I might associate DMB with douche Abercrombie guys that listened to them in high school...so I sneered when I saw this...but the song isn't bad. I actually like it.
Oh sweet! Another week of Michael_ freaking out and Rubberjohnny saying his catch phrases. Is this going to turn into weekly feature of Stereogum? We should come up for a clever name for it.
I'm sure the lazy eye makes proofreading difficult.
One of the Rubberjohnnys was commenting yesterday on another thread, after this post was published...what a strange world we live in now, multiple Rubberjohnnys.
This is terrible news, not only because I love their albums, but also because this is the first time I've seen a picture like this of them and I wont likely be seeing anymore now that they're broken up.
R.I.P Donna :( Now I will shamelessly indulge in my favorite disco music all week.
When I saw this picture...my day was made.
I've never seen so many down votes individual downvotes. Funny that a caption contest will probably have this week's worst comment despite there being a Top 90's Music List post.
I'm really excited for Hot Girls, but Peeing in a Water Bottle is totally overrated in my opinion.
A 2/10 Would Not Bang Mind
First, because although Smells Like Teen Spirit was a defining song of the nineties, I don't think it was the best of Nirvana's songs released in the 90's, let alone of the decade, thus I get tired of seeing it on the #1 spot of lists. Second, I think Pulp is really under-recognized by most mainstream folk as an amazing band and perhaps I am just high off the fumes of their recent Coachella show. Finally, I cannot argue with you about the greatness of Radiohead. This is not my list, and since I didn't make a reference to Radiohead in my post, all I can say is, yes Radiohead is amazing...but that still doesn't take away my happiness for seeing Pulp at number one.
I'm so happy that I scrolled down to number one and it was Common People and not Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Is that really true? I was just diagnosed with low cortisol, maybe I should switch from Adderall XR to Centipede Hz.
Lovely song, very Dylan-ish, good thing I have a road trip coming up!
I think it's pretty good, but it gets extra points for the peaceful cat photo.
