Can we talk about "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"?
I wasnt a Pet Shop Boys until this song, and part of its excellence is because of Dusty's power.
Thanks, Tom, for bringing back that amazing John Talabot track. Fin is one of the best electronic music albums and I hope many people is still listening it.
I GAGGED when I read your first comment about RPDR All Stars 3, but after knowing Sharon Needles was your favorite queen, I GAGGED and SHOOK.
I started watching RPDR bc of Sharon. She was the rock star queen!!!! and to me, no queen has ever made a better job in the show (don't try to fool me with All Stars 2's Alaska).
All Stars 3 was a trainwreck from the casting to the top 4, but at least it gave us the "I Kissed a Girl" and "Anaconda" lipsynchs (let's forget and forgive "Green Light").
To me, "I've been working on the New Oliver Twist" is the line of the year. But "Sky's Grey" is a perfect gem, made of amazing lines, and belongs to my top ten.
When you can't pick just one.

The best song in Is This It is "Trying Your Luck", but "Someday" totally proves your point. The truth is I just wanted to say I recently listened that album and keeps aging very well.
Wow, I believed I was the only one who loved "Choose Me". That song is amazingly not perfect, and everything you need. I was lost in "Love Me in Whatever Way" but then I started to listen "Choose Me" in repeat for days.
And I'm gonna cheat, and leave my list with favorites of 2016.

My main problem with Coloring Book is that Chance sounds here as every other successful mainstream rapper, and as a rapper, he's lost between overproduced tracks. In this album he's a good producer with a lot of ideas that sometimes sound very similar, so when you get all the gospel concept, you can start to feel boring at last third of the record. Skip the Justin Bieber song (nothing against Bieber, the thing is meh) and some other tracks, and there you have a really good album.
My favorite rap album is Elucid's Save Yourself. And I'm just starting to love Coloring Book; it's not even near to Acid Rap level but it has a lot of good moments.
I believe you just forget the De la Soul album, or the D.R.A.M.'s doesn't belong here because it's not so rap, right?.....
My favorite EP in 2016 is Lorenzo Senni's Persona. That thing is marvelous, and now I'm expecting a full album from this guy.
Other great EP's:
- American Scanner - AS
- Aesop Rock & Homeboy Sandman - Lice Two: Still Buggin'
- Vince Staples - Primma Donna
- G.L.O.S.S. – Trans Day Of Revenge
- D∆WN & Kingdom – Infrared
Also, Kiid by Mal Devisa must be higher, a lot higher, in this list, or that's what I was also expecting.
Anyway, I gave Kiid a try, thanks to this site. So, once again, thanks!
The American Scanner EP is better than a lot of albums in this Top 50, in my opinion. It just deserves to be mentioned, and if somebody wants music to dance and feel weird, that EP is a good choice.
My list of albums that don't appear here.
1. Ian William Craig - Centres
2. Kevin Morby - Singing Saw
3. Elucid - Save Yourself
4. Lorenzo Senni - Persona
5. Units and Measurements - s/t
6. Robert Turman - Stuck in my Head
7. Ty Segall - Emotional Mugger
8. American Scanner - AS
9. Jeff Rosenstock - Worry
10. Parquet Courts - Human Performance
Not a Lemonade fan, and still can't see all that beauty in 22, A Million, Coloring Book and The Life of Pablo, but glad Stereogum recognizes the greatness of Blonde, We Got It From Here, My Woman and Puberty 2.
So, let me understand. This year not only shows us that the world can be worse in the most ridiculous ways, and also is taking us a ridiculous amount of truly amazing, talented people.
2016 is gonna test us until it end.
RIP Sharon Jones, her charisma and incredible voice.
I said it in the past, and I will say it forever: "ORGAN DONOR". To me, that song changed a lot of things. Endtroducing... was perfect back then and it hasn't aged anything
Songs of Love and Hate is perfection to me, and I listened I'm Your Man once some years ago, and never hated it but also never liked it. I considered it good but nothing special. And now here I am, giving it a second chance, just because this list.
My problem with the Cohen discography is I always compare all his albums with SOLH, and that's something I need to solve.
WORRY. is one of my favorite albums of 2016, and that's thanks to Stereogum and its Album of the Week. This video, like the other ones from WORRY, is a bittersweet delight.
