Ugh this is so sad.
Downie is such an excellent frontman, and a hugely underated lyricist
"
One afternoon, four thousand men died in the water here and five hundred more were thrashing madly as parasites might in your blood
Now I was in a lifeboat designed for ten and ten only
Anything that systematic would get you hated
It's not a deal not a test nor a love of something fated
(Death)
The selection was quick
The crew was picked and those left in the water were kicked off our pant leg
And we headed for home
Then the dream ends when the phone rings
You're doing alright he said
It's out there most days and nights
But only a fool would complain
Anyway Susan, if you like, our conversation is as faint as a sound in my memory
As those fingernails scratching on my hull" - Nautical Disaster
Why anyone would speculate Radiohead's imminent demise without a shred of evidence is beyond me, but yeah, this album is incredible, for me only beat out by their Kid A/Amnesiac combo
Just a staggering piece of work. Decks Dark my gawwwwd, so gorgeous. I could go on and on
Pitchfork actually has a lovely write up of TLW : http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/18252-radiohead-true-love-waits/
TRUE. LOVE. WAITS. INDEED!
Google Play way to go dum dums!

Ahhh! Maybe I'm a hopeless devotee, but at this point I really can't comprehend people doubting her live performance skills - her voice is lithe and airy, singing the high notes while playing guitar, triggering her own electronics/synths, and rocking twitchy vampire dance moves in between. In a corset. Who else does that or writes songs as hyper addictive as this?!
Sailor Moon power-up fireball attack transformation
Maybe the Reddit theory Chris Hayes so much has some truth to it : https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/4hc1k5/theory_silence_on_dawn_chorus_day/
Silent Spring? Dawn Chorus. Birds chirping? You decide
I love this so much
As much as I want a new Radiohead album rightNOW I think they should keep everything blank for at least a few days ... get everyone truly foaming and perplexed
I was just talking today about my anticipation of Stipe releasing a solo album, even if it's a covers record
The world will be a better place with more of his iconic voice in it
Kind of ironic that Anohni's "Hope There Someone" would make a much more powerful Memorial song, although maybe a little too devastating
Blackbird is lovely enough I guess
This post will receive a lot of flack and for good reason, but the real shame here is that School of Seven Bells completely gorgeous final album isn't getting the recognition instead
So insanely sad right now. David Bowie was a musical rainbow, a beacon of light and a sponge for queer culture, a pioneer of sexual openness, a constantly evolving universe unto his own. So grateful for him existing on this earth at a time we needed him the most
Oh my god that was probably the best thing to happen to that awards show
"Shout out to Kevin Gates he's got a new album, he jumped over the jumpman"
He def picked the wrong accepters to fuck with. Those hens pecked him to death
I can't think of the last time I've truly felt like a "fan boy," or have been this enamoured with a pop record
Also, I kind of think the 10 year old me would be STOKED that I'm listening to music this technicolor and just plain fun as an "adult"
Found it
" "A year ago I was in LA and met some friends while they were working in the studio. They were recording on a song and I helped them a little bit with some lyrics in French. We had a really great day. Since then they've released their new album and tonight we would like to play you this song because the band was Eagles of Death Metal""
Top ten time ! :

What. A. Year.
Love seeing Jenny Hval so high!! That album is future feminism defined.
Also, Grimes = AOTDecade
5. Oneohtrix Point Never
4. Holly Herndon ( LIKE, HELLURR!)
3. Sufjan
2. Panda Bear
1. Grimez
Her "solo" records under Antony & The Johnsons are less pop, more chamber-folk than this song. But they're all absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking and highly recommended. "I Am a Bird" especially
She did some stunning dance-pop collaborations with Hercules & Love Affair - "Blind" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BYY7wupj4o
And my personal fave, "Time Will" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMZ4F0YirL4
Also, a really fun house-pop song with My Robot Friend : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiYPg956M2Q
I'm always surprised when I hear people weren't that into PBvGR.
For me it's his strongest solo LP next to PP of course. It was my AOTY until Grimes came along
Tropic of Cancer and Lonely Wanderer are two of his most personal and gorgeous ballads. He sounds far more multidimensional than he ever did on Tomboy, and the singles are just stunning bangers - the record sounds just as great in a snowstorm as it does on the beach
But maybe I'm totally biased, because when "Come To Your Senses" comes on, I like to pretend he's saying "Yeah, I'm Matt.."
No one is playing the Bataclan
Simply Red played a different venue called Zenith
Who knows how long the Bataclan will remain closed to the public. A while
I've been reading too many disturbing details about the attacks and seriously losing sleep. I feel changed
So thankful for your write-up on Arca! I'm a huge fan It is a bit difficult record to get into initially, but once you're in it's an incredible, emotionally potent world to explore
It IS too bad that Stereogum doesn't draw more attention to some seriously incredible progressive electronic albums, such as Holly Herndon - Platform, Jlin - Dark Energy, Lakker - Tundra, Levon Vincent , etc. etc.
It's also a shame that Oneohtrix was pigeonholed as a "terrifying drone-spazz nightmare" when in fact it's one of the most generous, and dynamic albums of the year. He's basically our next RDJ
