Also Meek Mill did not make the 13th best rap album of the year.
And the Migos love-fest continues.
I don't care which album I'm coming back to more in 10 years, I enjoy Acid Rap much more than I enjoy Yeezus.
Wait are you saying Vince Staples verses were weak? Are you and I hearing the same verse on Hive?
Leaving Wolf off this list is criminal IMO. Seriously one of the most underrated albums of the year, maybe because so much great stuff came out after it. The lack of No Poison No Paradise is disappointing as well. Feel the same about Watching Movies With the Sound Off and BetterOffDEAD. Pretty solid list all around though.
I've still got the first part of the 20/20 Experience slightly above it but it's definitely better than all the others.
Trey and Matt's secret motive here was clearly to remind Kanye of the promise he made so many years ago...
Haha I guess I'm one of those mainstays. I will say that DC3 has it's moments, and this song is definitely one of them.
Seriously. Her boobs on the Bound 2 video? Phew..
DILLON YOU JUST HAD A BANANA
Would've liked to see because the internet here, even if you guys didn't like it, I think, AT LEAST, it's a far more interesting album than Black Panties. I fully support anything that R. Kelly wants to do though and I think it's great that a guy as wacky and weird as him is getting attention again. R. Kelly making music is never a bad thing.
According to a lot of people Chance needs to make up for his Childish Gambino feature more than his Bieber feature. This song is great though.
So basically people aren't allowed to like because the internet because you don't? Plenty of people (myself included) love Acid Rap, in fact, I think it's the best album, mixtape, EP, project, whatever of the entire year. But I also have really enjoyed because the internet. I would also love to hear what you think makes Gambino a "bad rapper", maybe my ears are off, but I'm not hearing it on BtI.
lol you realize Donald Glover and Chance are friends right? It's not like he just paid Chance a shit ton of money to put his name on the song. I still don't understand why he's being criticized for not having Chance get a verse. because the internet is a concept album largely about Gambino's emotions and feelings. There's isn't a guest verse on the entire album. It's his album, he should be able to do what he wants with it, not be forced to give Chance a verse because that's what the internet wants. Keep in mind that there's quite a few people that were put on to Chance because of his guest spot on Gambino's mixtape Royalty. Not that Chance wouldn't have blown up without Gambino, but putting him on that tape and taking on him tour with him was a big deal.
I think he displays many of qualities "good rappers" have on because the internet. His rapping ability has undoubtedly improved since Camp. The puns are pretty few and far between here.
Which is actually a relatively valid argument. A lot of rappers get absolutely no coverage from Pitchfork but are pretty well known and popular rappers. Dom Kennedy is one that comes to mind off the top of my head. But Pitchfork loves to give high scores to "hood" rappers (not saying they aren't justified) and obviously they love any musician who seems a bit crazy.
Number one would be a laughable reason for the hate considering the way Stereogum and Pitchfork slobber all over Drake.
Tom's brain has apparently been replaced by that of a sixth grade girl. Because the internet is a great album, but I don't expect it to get any attention here and I expect it to get an awful score from Pitchfork. Don't know what the huge issue with him is but the bias is kind of pathetic honestly.
Or he's going to see if he enjoys it and he feels like he wants to continue on that path. I don't see what the big problem vegans have (not saying you fall into this group at all, kilgore, just generalizing here) with people who do things like this. I guess it's because they don't have the same instant reaction like they did or maybe because they actually think about returning to eating meat but every time someone does something like it seems like vegans' fangs come out hardcore.
I think he's just generalizing here. It's still wrong, but I don't think Kanye is actively trying to make a statement about how Jews run everything or something.
I love that Tyler the Creator is jammin the fuck out in the crowd.
This is really good. Looks like Nast is gonna be the next ASAP member for them to push into stardom.
I like how he brags about knowing this information but addresses him as "A$AP".
Excited about Q-Tip, indifferent about Rick Rubin.
95 'til Infinity is one of the best beats of the year and this is a good song.
This is great. I liked Joey on it. Don't even need to say anything about the beat because it's J fuckin Dilla.
Abbey Road is my favorite album of all time so I'm pretty upset.
Morrissey just seems like a real fun guy to sit down and have a beer with!
Translation: I DON'T THINK IT'S FUNNY AND NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO THINK IT'S FUNNY EITHER
Thanks Kevin, now I really want to see Jay Cutler parody a Kanye video.
So it's come to posting new Riff Raff songs eh?
Not gonna comment on Lana but I will say that Mac Miller just continues to seem more and more like a fucking awesome dude.
Pharrell is one creative dude. Happy is a great song too.
Strawberry Bubblegum is still one of the best songs of the year.
Oh sweet Yeezus please let this be true.
I don't think the author was commenting on being surprised by their discipline because they were black. I think he made that comment because when you think of any popular rapper, white or black, or really any popular musician, white, black, Latino, Asian, whatever, you think that it's gonna be a rowdy environment, especially when you're dealing with a lot of young guys. But I see where they're coming from at the same time.
Can't wait for all the thinkpieces and blog posts about how Kim is naked and Kanye isn't.
There's a lot of things you can say about the Kardashian family but they are marketing GENIUSES.
