Isn't being in a band also a job? If what you're saying is true, why wouldn't ALL musicians find a minimum wage job (just enough to get by) and then record songs in their spare time? Whether they care to admit it or not, most musicians want their music to be heard by as many people as possible and if the by-product of that is more money, then cool.

Do you really think a silly comedy album is better than The Strokes' Angles? I'm not even commenting on the quality of Turtleneck & Chain, I'm sure it's hilarious. But it's a comedy album on a list full of rock and pop albums. I'm surprised it was even considered, let alone ranked higher than Girls' Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, M83's Hurry Up We're Dreaming, The Horrors' Skying, AND Arctic Monkey's Suck it and See.

I realize the Strokes album wasn't life-changing, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been on ANY site/publication's Top 50 list for the year. I'd think it's at least #50, no? Say, ahead of THE LONELY ISLAND . . . L-O-L

Love Gorilla Manor too, but I think it technically came out end of last year. But that's another reason these lists are horrible: there' s usually at least 5 weeks at the end of the year that aren't even considered. With lead time in producing a magazine, these lists should be released in February so the ENTIRE year is accounted for
