Black Messiah definitely does feel like 2015 to me, since that's when we got our hands on it. But on the technicality that we got our ears on it in 2014, it probably won't be my 2015 AOTY.

When it gets to to me, I can't put my finger on what it is about it. In "Yeah (Crass Version)", the whole song forms around it, and it's totally fine. I can't explain it.

I have a weird complaint.
This drum beat is insanely common, but it's one that I really can't stand. The hi-hat on the "and" count (one AND two AND three AND four, bass being on one and three, snare being on two and four), just grates on me. Obviously, there are songs that I love that are an exception to this (even some MM songs), but most of the time I just can't get past how much I hate that beat. Pretty unreasonable of me.
The artwork, like the song, is about Kendrick being 100% black. When he was dependent on his mother's milk to keep him alive, he was BLACK, and he is proud of that.
You are not getting downvoted because this is Kendrick Lamar, you are getting downvoted, by me at least, because you are looking at a man saying "fuck anyone who has a problem with me being black", and you are responding with "bewbs".
