I think I was in fifth or sixth grade at the time, and like Girl Friday, found it very surreal. It's like I didn't have the capacity to understand exactly what was going on and definitely didn't realize the gravity of the situation. I knew it was bad, but I can be a bit of an airhead, so it wasn't until later when I had seen the reactions of certain people (parents, friends, etc) that I really got it.
Specifically, I remember the teachers turning on the TV to let us watch the news. One kid said that the footage seemed like something out of a movie, which many of us also thought or said to each other, but not "out loud" to the teacher. Well, said teacher got pissed and scolded this kid, which has always bothered me. I guess she was trying to make sure that we were being respectful and/or understanding of what was happening, but how would you expect a bunch of fifth graders to react? Like I said above, it's not like any of us really had the knowledge/emotional experience to truly deal with it. Fiction like movies/TV, etc. is probably the only space where we'd been confronted with something like that before.
Someone's seen too many episodes of Snapped (and that someone would be me).
In fact, a friend of mine (who also obsessively watches Snapped) determined that we could probably plan the perfect murder at this point because of all information and mistakes we've encountered from that show.
I only like snow from around Thanksgiving until December 26. After that, it's just a depressing, wet, and numbing pile of shit that needs to get off my lawn.

While watching the trailer, I thought about sending it to my Japanese friend and making fun of her people for remaking a Mel Gibson movie, and then I saw it mentioned that it's from China and I felt bad about myself.

Seriously, Christopher Nolan deserves a Best Director nomination. Inception's one of the few movies where the director and the film are tied inextricably in my mind.

Well, I'm a poor-as-shit college student, and I manage to not eat terrible food all day. I know that's not the entire crux of what you said, but it's an argument that bothers me. I have to buy as little food as possible, and when I do, I buy stuff like chicken, almonds, maybe a salad. All at the Kroger down the street and all pretty cheap. I'm not saying YOU do this, but it makes me so mad when people CHOOSE to buy disgusting food and then make the convenient argument that eating healthy is too expensive. Healthy food isn't some elitist ideal. People choose what they eat, it's not forced upon them.
And you don't have to join a gym to exercise. Go outside! Walk around! Jog! Run! Play some sports! There are definitely a lot of people who have health problems that prohibit them from losing weight, but there are also a lot of people who are just lazy excuse-makers.
I'm not trying to single you out, Whyareyouyelling, it's just that Funtastik's comment and your reply seemed an appropriate place to put this.
