I agree. Obviously ignorant people gave me a thumbs down. I didn't bad-mouth Frank Ocean, I'm just stating that he knows he can do better. I'm interested in his talent & I think he's going to be around for a while.
I don't understand all the hype about this guy. He's barely showing what he's capable of. He's got so much to offer, but he resorts to this singing-talking style in his songs, when really he's more like the "next" Marvin Gaye.
I just don't get why he doesn't just let it all hang out, I can hear the potential...instead people are just falling over him like he's really doing something extraordinary. He ISN'T.
The talent is there, but why isn't he showing it all? I just feel like he's holding back...maybe the best is yet to come.
My personal opinion is that Chris Owens is just taking a break. I really don't think he's quitting Girls at all...dude probably just wants to work out his life.
Just a guess, though.
I'm a firm believer in the FACT that some songs should be left alone. When it comes to Fleetwood Mac, "Rhiannon" is one of those kinds of songs.
Bands really fucking make me sick with "Oh, we just wanted to pay tribute & do it OUR way". Fuck off!!
Stereogum, just wanted to say THANK YOU for covering Ms. Phair...in my opinion, she's horribly overlooked and seems to be forgotten about at times, which actually wouldn't be so cruel if she didn't contribute anything to music & women's culture.
Anyway, thanks a lot.
Not to imply that she can't do anything great on her own, but you real Phair fans out there know what I mean...Please Liz, you + Brad in the studio. Like, now.
Liz Phair totally needs to get back with Brad Wood for her next album. I just have a feeling that if that did happen, she could top a lot of music lists.
Funny how the moderators/contributors of this website are more intelligent then the majority of their commenters. And yes, I'm expecting a large amount of thumbs down for this comment also.
Totally off topic, as commenters, we shouldn't even be allowed to thumbs down anyone else's response.
Wow, this is a really intelligent and informative response by Lowery. If I were the girl, Emily White, I'd be so embarassed right now. I actually read her article when NPR first posted it...what a douchebag she is.
I just thought I'd post a link to this article...it's good for not only fans, but aspiring musicians and it's really personal. So, here you go:

Very well said, Michael_.
No disrespect to Usher, even though I don't like him or his music, anyone who regularly visits this site (such as myself) couldn't possibly give less than a fuck about his new album. If I want to be updated on Usher, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc then I wouldn't log onto Stereogum. C'mon you guys...
