I agree with everything you wrote!
Agreed with all comments above. I would also like to point out that Lorde and Weird Al have the same hair.
Yeah, there really is a non-zero chance that that happens. Maybe like .. 20% chance? Don't forget Paul Banks' oft-delayed but eventually-classic mixtape 'Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be'.
This has been said on other Weezer-related posts here, but the sweet shredding inspires me to say it again: Maladroit is a pretty awesome album.
I spent my Friday eating clams casino and listening to Microwave Pizza. WEIRD!!
+1 on the Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn for J-Hud. I love that she doesn't even come in for a full minute and then just KILLS IT.
I do agree that it's been a weak year for albums so far, but there have been PLENTY of great songs. See: this entire thread for examples. Re your bigger argument, were you not paying attention last year? Kanye West, Beyonce, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, Justin Timberlake, The National, Vampire Weekend .. they're all superstars in their pop/alt/indie circles and they all put out acclaimed and great albums in the span of 12 months. Not to mention the new guys (Haim, Lorde, Chvrches, Disclosure .. it goes on and on). This stuff goes in waves. The buzz monsoon will be back.
This album is everything I hoped it would be <3
Feel like I'm on an island with my love of this Phantogram record!
"No no nahh, yeah." - Seven Mary Three
Iggy's appearance vaguely resembles the 'Groove is in the Heart' video and anything that shouts out Deee Lite is more than fine with me. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lwzsssrPmr1qa1zvj.gif Also this song is the best and I vote for Ariana/Iggy for co-queens.
I'm sorry I have to reiterate and comment again on this. The fact that he recognized that the background of that Beyonce deep-cut sounds like a TBS guitar line is just mind-blowingly impressive to me. This dude GETS IT. I was already pumped about this album but now I CANNOT WAIT.
Totally disagree with your assessment of 'Ain't It Fun', but I do agree that they'll be remembered for more. 'Misery Business' and 'That's What You Get' are JAMS.
I'm not saying that at all, I just guess we have different definitions of "socialite news garbage". All three of these artists are popular and respected by people who write for and read this site. This isn't an article about the Kardashians.
This is a music-focused news website and the story concerns three current, relevant, and popular musicians, all of whom have been covered extensively on this site and are well-liked by its readers. I think it would have been weird if Stereogum DIDN'T post this.
My little sister was born in 1994 and I used the Blue Album to introduce her to rock music. 'Surf Wax America' is still her favorite song of all time. I'm 8 1/2 years older than her and this album closed that age gap quite quickly.
This is like the plot of a Cameron Crowe movie! Such a great story, and an unquestionably classic/perfect album.
ARIANA FOR QUEEN
I say you're being inquisitive, and not whining at all! Has EDM 'finally' arrived? Is this the moment where it crosses over beyond the mainstream? Can Deadmau5 outsell Adele now that he has been on the cover of RS? [via the Hipster Runoffs] Also I think this gimmickry is really fun.
Think they'll play this on SNL?!
Someone had to do it and you performed admirably
I also saw that CalHar set at Coachella and had pretty much that exact same conversation with a friend of mine. It struck me as weird that none of the guest vocalists came out to sing their parts, despite the fact that many of them were there (Ellie and Florence to name two). Maybe it wasn't possible because he was just hitting play. Meanwhile Pharrell was definitely playing live and brought out what seemed like every artist he's ever worked with.
Might be my favorite of the three singles thus far
This song remains very, very good.
I remember the video for 'Lakini's Juice' freaked me the hell out http://img.cache.vevo.com/Content/VevoImages/video/C813DED7A42E02334FF966D04DF292D3.jpg
I'm hearing Portishead and some 90s Fiona (in the verses). It took me a few listens but I really, really like this.
Definitely sounded better live than on the stream - 'My Song 5' and 'The Wire' were both spectacular.
