Waka Flocka Flame supports gay marriage too. The problem is that Macklemore acts like he's better because of it.
I can't fucking stand Macklemore not just for the preachiness, but because it feels like he's attacking other rappers in a really generalized Bill O'Reilly sort of way, just putting himself up as the "exception to the rule". It's absolute bullshit to bunch rap music up like that and claim that you're morally better (even though it's been done by all sorts of bullshit "conscious rappers" before him), and it just means you're keeping down the culture you claim to rep. Also he's a cornball. I never liked most rappers in that style anyway, but the fact that he gets so much attention here in the Northwest makes it just so much harder to ignore that bullshit.
Damn now I'm even more excited. Hopefully once he's done with Europe he'll come back around.
It's one is a fantastic album. I've never actually stopped in Olympia for more than a few minutes but they've been home to some really great musicians over the years.
I think it's really cool that he basically signed every copy of the Seer. I bought a CD copy a while back and a few days after getting it I found out that it was signed on the back. I hope they end up in Portland again, I really want to see their live show.
I dunno man, to me he's got that style like Timbaland where you can tell a song is made by him really obviously, but he's really adaptable unlike a Lex Luger or something. Look at all the different styles he's pulled off: aggressive tracks like "Walking Lick", all of the incredible ballads he's made lately: "Body Party", "773 Love", etc. And the whole crossover that seems to be happening with him from Rap to Pop. We'll have to wait and see if he ever makes incredible album collaborations like Timbaland did with Aaliyah, Missy, and Justin, but I think he's got a bright future rather than just being a producer of the moment like Luger, etc.
This assumes that Future is the Jay-Z to Mike Will's Timbo: uses a few of his tracks each album, but sounds incredible on his beats.
This is good. If Mike Will Made It is the next Timbaland, who will be his JT?
Why are all the posts about Odd Future the ones that have closed comment sections? Are you guys afraid of the RubJon freak-outs that might happen? Those new Earl songs seem pretty great. It was nice to hear that Mac Miller worships the Based God, at least we can agree on something.
This list is nice, and you can see that it comes from the perspective of someone who is a fan and has a deeper understand of Big than the surface level. So what if "Juicy" isn't on there? anyone who listens to Biggie already know about that song. Anyone who says this is an atrocity or the worst list they've seen needs to look at that OutKast list again. 3 songs off the worst album in their career, with only one each from Aquemini, ATLiens and Southernplayalisticadillacmusik? Now that's an atrocity.
yeah, I think that's why I like it so much: it sort of feels like a combination of all his seventies work put together. Also the songs are spectacular. Tonight's the Night is definitely up there as well, along with After the Gold Rush and Everybody Knows this is Nowhere.
that just happened to me too. strange....
Does anyone else think Rust Never Sleeps is his best, or am I stranded alone on that island?
Well, if you're talking about genres that were reviled back in the day and are now accepted by the tastemakers, there's a lot of those. Some things still get ignored, but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.
ST 2 Lettaz also released his first solo album today, though I haven't been able to listen to it yet.
Dick, I am 100% real. Check my resume, I been in the game for a while. Porky, just don't fill up the comment section and it's cool. Dad, thanks for having my back.
just because you know big words doesn't mean you have anything interesting to say with them. Your rants are stupid, generally unfunny, and usually have almost nothing to do with music. Your shit is pathetic. Go back to your cave.
Agreed. Shit, if you're going to fill every thread with comments, at least make sure they're actually funny, but I'd prefer to just have actual conversations about music (with a few jokes, of course) instead of all this bullshit.
Adblock is really great and I recommend it for everyone.
The All Gold Everything video got taken down by UMG
Just for kicks I'm going to post the shitty google translation of whatever you just said: morrisey comprate're inconsequential life with royalties from the songs of The Smiths. and if you eat meat, man, every day until you die. now let's see if we can all rearrange those words in a way that actually makes sense.
Been trying to give this a listen since Sunday, but I was busy preparing a speech about Rap-A-Lot Records so I haven't listened to much new music since the weekend.
I love columns. This one really looks good. To me, Elverum's music really taps that connection to the natural world that is so strong here in the northwest. It just feels like a rainy afternoon in the trees.
I needed a good dose of that metal. This is great.
You're Welcome, Big Papa Bear http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9f/Big_Bear_%27Doin_Thangs%27_Album_Cover.jpg
They could've gotten better artwork if they hired Pen & Pixel
RubJohn is right. Need to lay down the law right now, I am not down to have the comment section turn into a penisfest.
I can see that point, though it might just be a different generation of critics that enjoyed that music than the ones who panned it back in the day. You can see that pretty easily in Hip-Hop where a lot of critics used to shit on Southern Rap and worship all sorts of throwbackish NY types and now there's plenty of younger critics who loved Ball & G or No Limit and aren't dismissing all the new Southern rappers
Music Taste is completely subjective. The Seer was my favorite album last year, but other people liked Fiona Apple, or something completely outside the conversations here. With so much good music being released all the time, why should everyone have the same favorites?
none of the links are working
You're still a basketball player, which makes you much taller than the rest of us.
Now this is what you really need to do if you want to start beef with Justin Beiber... http://hollywoodlife.com/2013/02/22/selena-gomez-cheated-on-justin-bieber-with-gucci-mane-report/
Haha that Wale thing was amazing.

Apparently he's actually cracked the Billboard top 200 with Trap God 2. Looks like there's a substantial group of people who are willing to pay money for the mixtape just so they can show gratitude. Or maybe they just want a copy without the DJ Scream pronouncing it "Gucci Man".
yay! I finally got the picture!
There's probably a No DJ version on iTunes if you want to pay money. Otherwise, click the free link above or on livemixtapes.com if you hate DatPiff like I do.
