Off-topic, Brigita, but when I saw Meadow and AJ yesterday, I thought of you!
A 60 second reboot? It was my favorite commercial of the day.
(For the record: Quasimodo predicted all of this.)
When we're reminded of someone's passing, we're supposed to keep in mind their contributions, character, and goodness that they brought into the world. I try to do this whenever I hear a recording by or read something about Blind Melon.
But invariably, the first thing that I recall is how a radio talk show host went on a mini-tirade and displayed zero empathy over a troubled young person's particularly tragic death. It was 20 hours after the news was reported, and it was so smugly callous and dismissive that I scarcely could believe it.
This is on me. I have to work on accentuating the positives and not letting the aforementioned memory be the first thing that pops into my head. The kid deserves better.
So I'll start today by keeping in mind: I would much rather have sat down for a coffee with a guy like Shannon Hoon than with a guy like Rush Limbaugh.
