I read this last night, Link. Ted Gioia is certainly qualified to speak to the issue.
...but I didn't have the courage to be a punker. So I felt I might as well like whatever I liked! An early reckoning of emotional intelligence. Good on you, Brigita.
All of time, thegue. It's part of that "feeling" that I was trying to describe.
(For those trying to read, remove the ), at the end of the URL. Super interesting, jon. Thank you.
Well done, gobiv. Just another reason that you're our go-to-person for alternative rock.
For as long as I can remember, I have always felt a connection with music that was far beyond just "liking"; it's more of an engrained, engaged feeling, almost like a sixth sense of awareness. It's hard to know why, and harder to put it into words. I often wonder if the good people who hang here might have a similar experience. It seems like it would be so.
A great distinction, and one that you can usually scope out quickly whenever a conversation turns to music. For some, the passion and engagement is profound, and for others, it's just a take-it-or-leave-it thing.
Atta bear. Screenshot worthy. I'll start working on the NFT.
A TNOCS Synchronic Moment™, x 2: - I heard a new song for the first time on Sunday that featured an alphabet thingy for the chorus. - I immediately thought about "Kalamazoo," but soon realized that this version was... different. - Yesterday, Link writes a piece on "Kalamazoo." - Last night, feetontheground references the very song, "A-B-C-D-E, F-U." I'm tellin' ya, sometimes this place is haunted.
Good on you, Bix. Congratulations!
I just time travelled back to 2018 / 1967 to upvote you from concealment. You're our guy. Seemed like the proper thing to do.
^ He's not even kidding. You will want to be prepared. I'd go with extra waffles, for sure.
Good grief. Another astounding example of, "time keeps on slippin', slippin'..." I would have thought, "Gee, how long since that show? 18? 19 years?" Is there a name for this phenomenon, where one vastly underestimates the time passed of events?
Note for LittleShade rating lovers I'm thinking that would be: "everyone." If any of you should ever find yourself in need of a conversation starter with a young person, just ask them, "So... Do you have any favorite songs and singers?" Works every time. It's like Duolingo for kids.
By the time 1992 rolled around, I was sort of a lapsed chart geek. The various Billboard methodology changes had taken much of the fun out of rooting for your favorite songs. But, thirteen weeks in the top spot definitely got my attention. Looking back, I think that this was the song that rekindled my interest in following the Top 40. The fact that there was bit of a Ray, Goodman and Brown vibe on the record certainly helped.
https://i.ibb.co/31vLpn4/wordle5.gif I know; you all could see this one coming about a mile away. Atta expert foreshadowers. May all of the daily "puzzles" that life presents to you be as easy to solve. Have a great weekend, please be careful, take good care of yourselves and each other, ... and good on you all.
Agreed, Dan P. It's a great display of good-sportiness from all involved. Stealing the show like a boss is your friend. She's become known for this performance; her name is Shawn Bounds. Although I know nothing about her (other than that she was great in this star-turn,) she immediately pole-vaulted on to my list of people who I'd love to meet, buy them a coffee, and tell them that they sure know how to make other people smile. Good on her.
I saw the title, and the first thing that came to mind was the follow-up to "Sugar Sugar:" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUsHC7OYOtA
Procedural question, Shade Senior: Has there been a Number One that you've elected to not share with LittleShade, perhaps due to a case of >PG-13 style content?
Here's another one that I thought for sure that we'd see. Among my many favorite things about this version is the wide range of expressions on the orchestra member's faces. We get everything from delight, bemusement, indifference, acceptance... ...to, "I went to Juilliard for this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w59e20ijOpE
Every day I try to be mindful of, but then promptly forget how things can change drastically in just an instant. I'm sorry about your friend, DanceFever. He sounds like a really nice kid.
It's funny how you can often recall which movies you saw on TV, or if you viewed them in an actual movie theatre. I haven't thought about "Uptown Saturday Night" in decades. But while reading your mention of it, I immediately remembered where the particular venue was, and, I think, about where I sat. (I do recall popcorn being involved, for sure.) To paraphrase friend Bayouradio's point: Sometimes, it's the small and forgotten memories that are the most fun.
The NanaMetric™ is indeed a valuable tool. It's just about infallible.
One thing that I did with the "downtime" was go back a few columns to see what I might have missed in the comments. I saw your "19 years" post during ā€œIā€™m Too Sexy.ā€ Sending my belated congratulations. Much admiration and respect to you, friend washington. That's a really significant achievement. Atta boy!

Here's my report: 1. Refreshed like a madman. 2. Wondered if Tom was OK. 3. Wondered if you all were OK. 4. Finally figured out that it was going to be a day off. 5. Pivoted to some actual work. 6. Started counting the days until Wednesday. I really do need an emergency backup hobby.
Good grief, that's all the world needs. I'm too yappy enough around here as it is.
Y'ever notice that Diana hardly ever sings the actual "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" lyric? On the single edit, I think she does that maybe twice.
"And someone in Arizona, or is it Texas?, just gave my posts two thumbs down." Nope. Take another guess. And while you're at it, stop insulting high-schoolers. Most that I know are smart enough that they would immediately see the hammering irony of your ridiculous and vapid excuse of a cogent argument.
I'm astounded by the lack of perspective and emotional IQ that some folks seem to embrace. I'm against Clapton's politics and his often-terrible attitudes. And I can ignore all of that and empathize with a person that lost a child. Isn't it obvious that these are two unrelated topics? I'll think good thoughts and hope that you never make an "negligent" error that would result in such an unspeakable tragedy. And I'll also think good thoughts that if you did, you'd somehow find a path to forgive yourself, as others should forgive and support you. C'mon. What friend RJ1313 says: Walk a mile, indeed.
Whakawhetai koe! For those of you playing at home.. that's our NZ friend invercargillmarvel!
No doubt that you hit the post with flair and style. I'd love to hear some of your airchecks. I'd imagine that they represent nice little life-milestones for you.
Ah. The thinking man's Red Bull. I'm just saying.
