Yeah I was really sad to hear the news like many of us, I still have my second iPod classic which has lasted me the last three years, and my previous before that lasted maybe 2 or three (can't remember) before it melted itself to death (it was literally smoking and I was just charging it in my car). Sadly now, my current classic will randomly pause when I'm listening on my headphones - which I assume is that function that pauses the music when the jack is pulled out - and i'm not sure how to fix it. I would be super sad if i couldn't fix it and have all my tunes on one working device.
A completely fair criticism about the Foo Fighters, one that I don't disagree with in any way.
I listened to this a couple days ago and I remember being slightly put off by the tempo increase, otherwise I think it's a flawless remix. I'd agree though, it would be difficult to remix Spoon because Britt's voice works perfectly in their minimalist compositions, if anyone was the perfect person to remix this song it was Tycho.
At the same time, at the very least he must be much happier these days I'd hope.
Stereogum Premier? After so much proclaimed hate (deservedly)? Hmm....
No one is inferring that other award shows hold any more credibility. While I agree that the blatant hating and comments like "Y do u care if ur not 12" or "I forgot anyone evn cared a bout the grameez" are not constructive and are really just extremely annoying, I would also say that we believe it is worthwhile to have this discussion because of what it says about the state of pop music.
The point isn't that black musicians aren't given grammys, it's that they have been largely segregated to the Urban/Rap categories and not as acknowledged in the main categories like Album of the Year. And then it gets even worse when you get the shitty white-pop version winning in these categories too, like Macklemore beating Kendrick and potentially Iggy Azelea winning an award this year.
(You meaning Stereogum/James Rettig)
yeah really, that's a sensationalist headline. It's not like he was there and everyone was saying "Hey Phil c'mon man please play the show we need u" and he said "no guys! i wont! This is dum and I hate everyone im a rockstar im better than this!" You really need to change it, the implications of "refusing" vs. "didn't perform due to health reasons" are very different.
Don't mean to be a hater, but a lot of Diplo's shit has become predictable and repetitive, as has the mad decent label sound, I hope this doesn't push a really watered down version of the PC sound into the mainstream. Although it will be funny to see producers start using it and completely lose the context and miss how it completely shits on and tears apart (while simultaneously loving) modern electronic pop.
I think, at least in my opinion that while Corgan's lyrics in his heyday were excellent, they were a great part of his songwriting, and not something to stand on their own, better nestled within his wall of guitars. I think post Adore, and to this day he has put too much emphasis in the mix on his vocals, in a more pop fashion and I think that that, along with his lyrical quality and songwriting quality diminishing it has caused his output to suffer to an even greater extent. I really liked "Tiberius" though and am looking forward to this stream, seems like he's finally clicking again with his music, I still wish they'd stop mixing his vocals so loud/dry though.
"Creed fan or not". Thats brave of you to admit, I respect that.
Yikes man, you need to get out more....
Holy shit, that was straight from the heart, you really could feel the emotion in his voice. Powerful stuff. RIP Michael Brown.
(But yes I agree with your sentiment).
Also, I never really bothered with either of the Machinas, they were just a bit abrasive for me, are they worth pulling back out?
There definitely are a fair share of songs I don't really enjoy on "Adore" but songs like "For Martha" and "Shame" are excellent, "For Martha" can stand among the softer ballads on "Mellon Collie..." easily IMO, but maybe no one else shares that view. Going to re-listen to "Adore" today to asses.
* loved (Tiberius) ... great songs on that album (Adore)
Woah Michael are you trying to say "Tiberius" is better than ALL of "Adore" are you serious? I loved that song, but there some great songs on that album.
You mean passbook? I like that app, use it for airplane boarding passes and concert tickets, it's decently handy. I really wish they would rename the beats service though, I think the whole branding is ugly and the name is stupid, doesn't really fit into the apple aesthetic.
Also if that's Tommy Lee on the drums, he does justice to the sound here, though I'll always be sad Jimmy Chamberlin is a business dude now :(, at least he's off the heroin. also has anyone else noticed that Jimmy looks exactly like Jon Hamm, who both kinda look like Trent Reznor? Spooky stuff. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lm5bceYiJ61qarak6.png http://www.you-two.com/news/IMG/jpg/trent-reznor-03-bb37-2014-650x430.jpg
Wow this is way better than any of the material he's released in the last few years. I still wish his voice wasn't so high and dry (lol) in the mix. I miss when he put all his ego into the mountain of guitars and buried his voice in it. This makes me want to listen to "Siamese Dream" right now and all day.
I can confirm that it's pretty cool, I was front row for him in Montreal.
Would you steal a car? a house? a person? a country? ILLEGAL PIRACY OF MUSIC IS STEALING AND AFFECTS EVERYONE. Sincerely, the RIAA.
Seen their name many times on various sites, but never actually listened to them. I love Michael Shannon though, so I'll check this out.
This is a strange album. I am going to download and listen to it this week, thanks for the heads up, Tom.
Well shit, turns out I don't know Tay like i thought! :(
I appreciate the title, but Bastille can politely die by fire.
I think people are down-voting you because even if Eminem isn't being serious and "using the idea of hitting a woman as a tool" it still really sucks as he is an extremely popular dude that tons of people look up to. Because either he's ok with it and is promoting violence against women or he is using the idea of beating up a woman as a joke for shock-value, and if we want people to take the issue of violence against women seriously, he really isn't helping.
I think you may have missed the turn for rollingstone.com
Well that didn't embed properly. https://33.media.tumblr.com/761548932892644d3506864c623c3105/tumblr_mrvx8wBtg91s6ovjqo1_500.gif
Yeah he's really changed. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/it/f/f8/Foo_Fighters,_Everlong_(Michel_Gondry).jpg
Lil seany boy is still a lil baby crying for attention though lol.
Just keep working on it, and maybe some day you'll release an album better than Goblin.
Rubjon! It's been far too long. I miss the days when you would be a regular contender for lowest rated comment of the week. Where you beeeeen?
