Their set at Boston Calling was absolutely nuts. Easily one of my favorite shows of last year
read your comment and did way too much internet research on what to call that decade. lots of fun facts
I dislike the new layout. And not just cause it's new. Everything is way to big and narrow, especially "most viewed" to the right ( which should be most commented) Overall, it has potential but simply fails to live up to the initial promise and is overshadowed by its predecessor//6.8
Sorry, I meant to thumb up, but can't see the options
Agree. That album needs more love esp after that shitty review
Imagine the world we could live in if Pitbull were as concerned with racism as he is with partying.

Will Lil B's cat Kiki The Adopted Tabby Cat make a guest appearance? Probably the most respected feline of all time in the rap game
Pretty spot on write up... I used to listen to LCD a bunch during my subway commutes. One Amtrak ride I did all three albums and this one is definitely the outlier
I think the new Decemberists album is a bit underrated. It's clearly not their best, but has some great stuff on it. I feels a lot more pop influenced than most of their work. Could use some editing though. Way too long.
Fun fact: Def Jam is hounding YouTube and removing all unauthorized frank ocean videos. This includes covers and live songs. Even my video of his speech explaining his famous tumblr note before singing bad religion that had 150 views. Hopefully this means a new album is imminent :/ If anyone cares I got the copyright strikes removed by emailing the def jam representative/hound and being nice.
I think I found something. Miranda Lambert - Amber = MIRANDA LT, which, using a standard conversion table, adds up to 92. 311-92=219. 219..... Does that number look familiar? It should. AMBER is clearly an anagram of MRBAE. Using the SAME conversion table we find that MRBAE = 13*18-(1+2)*5 = 219. Mr. Kenneth Bae, of course, is one of two Americans who was released on 11/8 of last year. (8 is pretty much the number 3 continuously spinning around). He studied at the University of Oregon for two years, dropping out in 1990 - the year of 311's debut album. How deep does it go?
Anyone else part of the 24 Million? Represent
Wait, I'm confused. How did U2 devalue their music? All they did was give it away for free.
I was hoping Pink Floyd would let him have the classic rock equivalent of a guest verse just so the 4 of them could be on last song together
Mario Cuomo is also Andrew Cuomo's dad. Mario was governor in the 80s (thanks wikipedia)
its good (not great) overall. I don't really care for the country section or the album art. Overcoming Me sounds like it could've been a bonus track on Father Son Holy Ghost.

minor corrections: Widowspeak played before the cancellation, Flatbush Zombies were Saturday, and Lunice cancelled earlier in the day because of travel delays.
if you're bringing p4k into to this discussion... they gave the album a 7.8, which is .4-.6 away from the BNM tag haha
O Green World
2nd place last year was Diane Young, which peaked at #11 on the US alt chart. I think you should have 2 polls. make it fair for everyone
the mechanical license required for a cover song is compulsory. It doesn't matter if he "allows" them to cover a song (if frank used the master recording, which it sounds like he did, he would be required to obtain separate rights to use that. although if he made a perfect note for note replica of the original he would be alright). The issue is mixtape culture and the idea that building a community of fans is equally- if not more- important than the $.01 per stream (less if they bought in bulk) that they technically owe the publishing company.
pst....."Theo Wenner, the song of "
probably cause its co-curated by Aaron Dessner
Of the fests I plan on attending this year, this one has my least favorite lineup. should still be a fun weekend
pretty huge muse fan. bigger radiohead fan. most people i know (like me) listen to and enjoy the two bands for very different reasons. i wont go into the details but i don't know anyone who would argue muse has better composers than radiohead. Bellamy is probably a better guitarist than greenwood (in the guitar battle sense). The only legitimate comparison between the two bands is their vocalist's singing range. also, the first 3 muse albums are so much better than the 1st coldplay one (which is their only good one, by far) \\endrant
i like how it sounds more like a conversation now
replace "best" with "most recognizable" and all the winners suddenly make sense
70% is much better than most bands get out of a traditional record label deal (~20+/-% is common). The obvious problem is that when you multiply .7 * .2 you get the tiny royalties that people have been complaining about
How can they say the video is 'social commentary' or whatever when the overall message is "BUY OUR SHIT" its a shame cause the product does seem to bring positivity into the world, but the bottom line is they are using the beastie's song (and creative property) to profit
Party and Bullshit is one of my favorites, though admittedly I'm not a huge biggie fan
I think New Year's Eve is the most overlooked/forgotten Walkmen song
wow this perfectly describes everything i feared when i heard the first single....
Really surprised Kishi Bashi didn't make this list. One of my favorites of the year, and npr seemed to give his album a lot of attention when it came out
I disagree. I think Compton fits very well into the arching story line and at a very essential part of the album. If you listen to the skits it will make sense. I agree the song is only 4/5 quality, but considering the context boost I'd say its worth having it in. People who sat it sounds out of place are right, but completely missing the point kendrick wanted to show by including the song For example, if it was recipe (which is a better song) was the last song it would take it down a rating or two. For the record I'm between frank ocean and Kendrick for number ine
The way I see it (and looking at the comments it seems a decent amount of people would agree) there are a few tiers of Radiohead albums. 1. OK Computer/ Kid A 2. Amnesiac/ In Rainbows 3. The Bends/ Hail to the Thief/ The King of Limbs 4. Pablo Honey Some could argue for The Bends to be in the second level. Though if I'm going to listen to any of these besides Pablo Honey I'm happy.
Radiohead has released 8 studio albums. you guys got that part right
Just to add on a little to what youre saying. Its become so ridiculously easy to get your music on iTunes and Spotify (its actually a one time $40 fee to get it on just about every music site/store you can think of) that there is only time to listen to 'the good stuff'. Whether that's defined by this site, pitchfork, rolling stone, or your friends doesn't matter- but you're probably not gonna listen to the album that gets a 6 from pitchfork and spin unless friends are raving about it or you happen to come across it on Pandora. Of course there are plenty of albums that get bad reviews/non coverage but are still great listens, they're just much much harder to track down.
