At a recent concert he said its their last US tour for a while. Hopefully he just works on another side project and comes back to this one in a couple years. Man Im glad I shelled out to see them live. After losing the possibility of seeing Girls live this would be too much.
agreed, that was great
Hey, Gigantic, and Monkey Gone to Heaven . And sure Tame might be the best example of a good Pixies song, but that doesn't make it the best song.

Wow music will never be the same. So revolutionary.
Didn't M83 have an open audition for the bassist/back up guitar player? I'm pretty sure they hired them as an actual touring member though. The only complaint I have with this issue is that is it certainly near a grey zone of the industry. For example, say Radiohead or some other huge act offered to let a fan play trumpet or whatever onstage for a few dates of tour with them- basically getting a free/all expenses paid vacation and great experience. I doubt many people would get up in arms about that. The problem is this lady actually thinks itd be a good idea for someone trying to further themselves in the music industry to do this, when the benefits would most likely be very minimal. If you take your career seriously you shouldn't do stuff for free. Also its funny that she used to be associated with occupy and now shes exploiting for cheap labor
Pretty good, I liked it better than his MTV performance though the second half of Pyramids isn't nearly as effective without the first
151a will easily be in my top 10 come the end of the year
Yes, that was a joke post. All these Billy Corgan headlines kinda read like HRO posts, with all his exaggerated nonsense and whatever. Seems billy corgan is just trying to keep himself in the headlines by saying dumb stuff about bands everyone likes. I still like their back catalog, but its hard to take the guy seriously between this and the Radiohead thing a couple weeks ago.
Yeah Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is definitely their best. Almost every song is a classic on that one
Steadyriot says Billy Corgan keeps saying stupid shit because his album effing tanked and people only like his old stuff.
Wow this is really good- though I'm probably one of the few people who think Strawberry Jam (and even Feels, though not by as much) is better than MPP
Seeing him tomorrow, pretty pumped
but the best part about the video was that it cut off early
Hm, didn't see that- I think it must have to do with the band playing. I know for the Big D shows (2011) they said they worked out a deal with the venue and had extra staff to prevent most of the stage diving. Plus Gaslights not really a band to mosh to anyway. I went to one of the Dropkick shows at HoB the week that article was published and there a shit load of moshing going on in that crowd. I guess the bigger venues can just pay the fine though. I really hope they stop enforcing that law- Middle East downstairs is by far the best venue for a punk show I've ever been to. I might need to move somewhere where the PD doesn't hate music. They shut down Odd Future almost everytime they've come here, but last time its cause there were actual fights going on. And last month they arrested a guitarist from Animals as Leaders for little to no reason (http://www.change.org/petitions/the-governor-of-ma-exonerate-javier-of-any-charges-from-the-boston-police-department) I've seen a few fights at a M83 and Sleigh Bells show yet never seen even a bloody nose at a ska or punk show. (Metal is a different story)
Boston definitely doesn't have a "anti-moshing" law. Even the venues that have those "no moshing allowed" signs like Middle East (which wouldn't even be affected by Boston venue laws), Paradise, and BMH will allow it for punk/ska bands- though not sure if Gaslight fits into that category as much anymore. But stage diving is usually enforced pretty strictly aside from the Big D halloween shows. That said Im pretty jealous- I overslept the day tix went on sale and missed out. I'm pretty sure a few sold for over 100 on stubhub which has to be some kind of record for the Middle East
First of all, this album is great and is easily the best of the week. Though when I went back and listen to 59 Sound after I heard Handwritten for the first time I realized this is nowhere near as good as 59 Sound. That may be cause I always liked the more straight forward punk sound found on all of Sink or Swim and a little bit on 59 Sound, but I also think the lyrics on the first 3 albums and ep are much better than the ones found on this one. Not that these are bad by any means, just lacking compared to the rest of Fallon's work. And The Horrible Crows album was actually pretty good. I couldn't tell you if you really listened to it or just dismissed it as a 'garbage acoustic project' without checking it out.
gonna join the 'not worth it' crowd. I'm not the cruise type anyway so unless the line up was damn near perfect it would take much more than a handful of bands I've already seen to get me to pay $500 to sleep in a box with no windows. The average age will probably be closer to 31 than 21 anyway- doubt they need that disclaimer.
He also created one of the best album/mixtapes of last year- "Nostalgia, Ultra", was featured twice on Watch the Throne (or had you not heard of Kanye and Jay-Z before 2 weeks ago, either?), and wrote a song for Beyonce that supposedly made her cry when she heard the demos. Seems more like you just haven't been paying attention. Frank has been and is the real deal.
Nice to see Bun B placed so highly, though i guess he is much more popular in TX pretty great line up this year
not at all... on Novacane he feels "numb" to the other girls because he is still obsessed with the first one. do people not realize that all the letters in LGBT stand for a different word? I didn't see anywhere in Franks letter that suggested he has ONLY ever fallen in love with men, just that his first love was towards a man. This doesn't mean that all his songs about women are insincere or to switch every single gender in all the songs off Nostalgia, Ultra.
"^^^that long ass novel you just wrote, that shit even got statistics. Im surprised you aint post a link to yo reference page. A nigga gotta go get his reading glasses if he wanna keep up wit all the shit you talkin bout" my favorite
Wait so Frank Ocean doesn't count till next week right??
i also disagree with the comparison. that album, while also good, has nothing on this one.
Im pretty sure Easy E's death would disqualify them from this list... though they did make up a little right before he died
Darude is still around? Im sure they all make way more than this assuming Net Worth factors in spending money on stupid shit
Japandriods -Younger or House that heaven built Beach House - Lazuli or Myth Walkmen- Heartbreaker Killer Mike - Southern Fried or Big Beast Maybe something from Santigold, though I havent listened to the whole thing yet Best Coast if you live in Cali/ are obsessed with it I could see 212 coming back- technically its the song's first summer
Bun B is such a good rapper
It is way more hurtful. A downloaded song can lose a band between 4.5 and 40 cents, depending mostly on the kind of deal they have worked out with the record label. VW would probably have paid Beach House at least 50K to use this song (between master-use and synchronization rights) seeing as they literally based the entire commercial on the song.
Maybe its because its one the first albums I got really into, but I think Demon Days is by far the best album out of any of these projects. It does a great job of blending a ton of genres into one coherent idea and the flow is nearly perfect. Plastic beach might have better individual songs and Gorillaz is pretty good as well, but listening to Demon Days is the most satisfying and enjoyable out of any Albarn side project.
Coming soon: Raptor Jesus sends a link for a video that gets posted and......
how was was he supposed to react? Assuming the above events are in order and it did 'get leaked early' then he took it down and then Erykah had the whole crazy public rant instead of calling him up. He's basically just playing along with it. All of Wayne's comments seem to be very sarcastic and tongue in cheek The more i try to see what happened, the stupider this beef gets.
idk i went back and read a lot of the tweets from Erykah, Wayne, his wife, and some Flaming lips members and it seems that this is basically a publicity stunt from both sides. If you look at the outcomes of this then really everybody wins. Wayne is viewed as 'weird', Erykah keeps her dignity (though if the video was praised she couldve taken credit), and they both get a shit ton of publicity. The song was out for almost a week and she didn't seem to mind until some of her fans got upset with her, then it got ugly quick. She also played a set right before the Lips at a festival on Saturday and stuck around to see them, so she can't be that pissed- though I heard her performance was off.
Not sure why you would throw Muse in any category with Kings of Leon
Yo man you need some help and you're not going to find it on the internet
yeah without that little riff it couldve been just the same chord patterns, but the cowbell thing puts this over the top
One more reason to only eat at Chili's.
Bloom is my favorite so far, though honestly the year has had a slow start. I also wasnt too crazy about Chairlift and Cloud Nothings, if they were both dropped down a few the list would be much better
Neil Young is also at OL, which has a much stronger line up- except almost no rap
