That Big Day Out set is a total mess and also probably my favorite live set ever. It's the stuff punk rock dreams are made of
I had never even seen a shooting star before.
Goldust is ? from ? And The Mysterians
George Harrison is clearly The Undertaker (or maybe Bob Dylan is I'm not sure). Mick Foley to me seems like a mix of Wilson and Zappa. Jericho was maybe Morrison but only the one that got drunk and cursed people off on stage.
The show hasn't even started and Pink already one something for that god awful song. Good start!
This list just proves overall that Pitchfork just can't allow themselves to put more than 1 metal album on their year end lists. I'm happy for Pallbearer, and their album definitely deserves its recognition, but I really think it was a shame that Converge and Baroness got no recognition whatsoever. Pretty decent list overall, but I feel like they were definitely trying to throw one too many curveballs with all the non-BNM choices and left out some great albums in the process (what happened to Mount Eerie?)
Anyone else blown away by the fact that they forgot "I'll Be Alright" by Passion Pit? It seemed like it would easily make the top 20 earlier this year
He's starting to lose a little weight, so I think he's less appealing now
ehh, it just seems like a lot of what she does is a put on. She does way too much for the sake of attention for me to really ever consider her charming or cute or anything like that. But hey, that's just me.
Why, oh why do people find Claire Boucher attractive, or even cute in any way for that matter. I actually had to vote "Not Grimes" because she just rubs me in such a wrong way. I don't even really hate her music, but the fact that so many people have a legitimate crush on her just blows my mind. Alexis Krauss could actually have gotten my vote, but I really don't like the image that she's pulling these days. Honestly, she's way more attractive without the ridiculous makeup and leather outfits. Sad to see no love for Laurel Halo, in my opinion she's incredibly underrated. AND WHERE THE FUCK IS MC RIDE???
Cloud Nothings - Attack On Memory I really hope nobody's voting for Grimes for indie crush
Sad to see that Selenelion by Vaura got so overlooked this year, it was definitely one of the most unique metal albums to come out in a while. Also there were some great black metal releases this year (Krallice, Nachtmystium, Ash Borer). I do think that Converge and Baroness are very fitting for the top spots, but personally I'd flip their positions. Nothing else sounded like that Baroness album this year, and it totally reinvented the band
So i'ts agreed that we're all going to pretend ¡Dos! never happened, right?
I honestly thought Transcendental Youth was one of the more instantly likable albums The Mountain Goats have released since The Sunset Tree. Like you said, most of their albums take a little bit of time to get into (it took me almost a year to get the full jist of Tallahassee, which is now one of my favorite albums), but come on, how could you not instantly fall for those horns in "Cry For Judas" and "In Memory of Satan"? Also no song on this album seems to drag on or overstay its welcome, which tends to happen a lot on Mountain Goats albums.
Boght the CD and vinyl of shields, not to mention cd copies of their past releases. I'm doing my part, dammit.
Where in god's name is Royal Headache?
Glad to see Rather Ripped wasn't totally ignored, In my opinion its their most under-appreciated album. In my opinion its one of the most intimate albums Sonic Youth has released, and even though its not the first album where they focused on more conventional songwriting, I feel like its the best example where they accomplished this while still putting 100% of themselves into the record, as every song feels so completely organic and inviting.
So you're saying I should just open my copy of Spiceworld already?
Since when did people stop listening to C+C Music Factory?
