There’s a certain paranoia lurking beneath the laconic vocalisms Angus layers at the outset of “Scissor,” the opening track to Liars typically excellent new LP Sisterworld. Andrew uses that storyteller’s pace and injection of unease to foreshadow then launch into a claustrophobic freakout. Reset. And repeat. It’s a push-pull of dramatic tension befitting this short filmic/poetically bizarre video which finds AA stranded at sea and finding his life vessel has the slight problem of filling up with rocks? He’s gonna need a bigger boat. Which he finds. Then things get utterly weird. Watch this:

when i heard this song i imagined the music video to be like a horror film. actually that whole album has structure of a really good horror movie. action beginning, calmed down intro, then more action scenes then complete breakdown.

kinda cool. Song isn’t so hot though.

  4. I love how every story on Vampire Weekend or Joanna Newsom gets 20+ comments, but this greatness gets three. People suck.

Wait, is liars one of the few great bands this site cover? Scott, Brandon, Amrit & Jessica: yup!
Jk you guys, but liars are truely one of kind, unlike vampire weekend and kesha.

  6. Amazing. The song is beautiful and the video flows with it seamlessly. Surreal and lovely.
