Azealia Banks - No Problems

There was no fan on the flames of the battle between Harlem spit-fire Azealia Banks and NYC-via-Virginia rapper Angel Haze over the weekend. On Friday, Banks and frequent collaborator Machinedrum dropped “No Problems,” a response track to Haze’s “On The Edge.” While the spat has primarily been relegated to Twitter and SoundCloud — Haze followed up with a super straightforward cut called “Shut The Fuck Up” — and solely between the two of them, it was not long before others got involved. This is where it gets prickly. Celeb gossip jabberjaw Perez Hilton, a former avid fan of Banks and current champion of Haze — because obviously there is no room to like two female rappers at the same time — decided to enter the fray and in her frustration, Banks called him a homophobic epithet that turned the Internet on its head. Her tongue-lashing prompted rumors that she had been dropped from Interscope (she hasn’t) and inspired LGBT organization to publicly call her out from her language choices. The feud has since seemed to float into the ether. Listen to “No Problems” and “Shut The Fuck Up” below, but hopefully these are the last dis tracks we hear from either of them.

  1. No contest… AB>Haze in all aspects

  2. It was really weak of AB to say that the epithet she used means a “man who acts like a woman” — not just because that’s totally disingenuous but because using the phrase “acting like a woman” in a pejorative sense is also just buying into stupid macho bullshit. And uh she’s a woman?

  3. I think Haze is the better rapper. Listen to “Werkin Girls”, and I don’t think you’ll find an AB track with that much fire&flow. Maybe that’s just me.

The only thing that throws me is the studio interview pitchfork did with Haze, and where she actually talks like a normal, well-educated, polite person. Like, she sounds like my doctor or something. Too much of a contrast with her firey brimstone barrage.

    • Yeah, I’m team Haze too, simply because she’s the better rapper and doesn’t dress up like a fucking mermaid.

The two EPs dropped by Haze are miles better than that Fantasea stuff Banks dropped last year.

Also, Haze looks like a female A$AP Rocky to me…which I find really hot for some reason. Either way.

  4. I just feel like Haze is just using Banks to get attention. Before this, she was nobody to me. Her first diss track was her laughing and quoting twitter and shit, thats a better rapper? Immature and stupid.

  5. Honestly, I get the impression that both Banks and Haze were savvy enough to realize that, regardless of how they feel about each other on a personal basis, they could profit much more by appearing to be “feuding” than by simply remaining quiet. I mean, I keep seeing both their names everywhere. I think that was the goal.

  6. Just work on your debut please. PLEASE.

  7. As a gay rap fan, I would be more upset about AB’s slur if she had directed it toward anyone I hate even slightly less than Perez Hilton. As is, I don’t really have a problem.

  8. Accidentally thumbed this up when I meant to thumb it down. So, ignore the little green hand and know that I, a person on the Internet whom your will never meet and whose opinion you don’t care about in the slightest, disagree with this sentiment. Weep, ye mighty!
