It’s been quite some time since the Appleseed Cast’s last album, but now we’ve got a raw-sounding new single for their first album in four years. The awesomely named “Great Lake Derelict” (sadly, there isn’t a real Lake Derelict — I checked) finds the long-running post-rock band with a new lineup and a tweaked sound. Things here sound less pretty than they have; the drums are rougher, the guitars sharper. This all works to the band’s benefit, as does the intricate interplay going on between the four members. Give it a listen.
