Islands, the longstanding indie-pop enterprise fronted by ex-Unicorns member Nick Diamonds, just released a new album called Ski Mask, which Thorburn touts as “like a summation of Islands, everything we’ve ever done distilled into one record.” Now that album has its own mockumentary featuring comedians Michael Cera, Bill Hader, Jon Daly, Alia Shawkat, and more impersonating clueless band associates — ex-bandmate, manager, producer, fans — and gushing with typically cliched music praise about the new record. It’s good for a few laughs (“Sometimes you can’t even give those guys a high-five without getting a little zap, you know?”), all of which you can enjoy by watching director Derek Waters’ clip below.

Ski Mask is out now on Thorburn’s Manqué label.

  1. Indie bands reuniting left and right, and still no Unicorns reunion on the horizon. Bummer city.

  2. No way! Bob Fossil!

  3. That clip sounds like they’re an Oasis cover band.
