Shara Worden — Outsiders expert — has a new video for the dreamy A Thousand Shark’s Teeth track “From The Top Of The World.” I have no idea what is going on in it. It’s like a fairy tale made of green screens and papier-mâché, with a side of “Tonight, Tonight” and a crazy gold faced mustache guy in the clouds who’s inappropriately fixated on Shara’s arm. Oh and the whole thing takes place on her chest? Sure why not.

Wow. As always, Shara takes the sexy/creepy conundrum to a whole new level. The music and Shara herself are extremely sexy, but that papier-mache mustache guy is going to visit my nightmares for weeks.
I like it. She’s a great musician, and ‘A Thousand Shark Teeth’ is a great album. My Brightest Diamond doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the “Indie” and blog scene, even with it’s large borders. I feel Shara is ten feet further out than Joanna Newsom and Joanna is pretty much the outer limits of most people’s acceptability. But I say this to encourage people to accept the challenge and venture off into this new territory. There is some good music here if you give it a chance.
