Lower – “At The Endless Party”

Lower – “At The Endless Party”

Copenhagen post-punks Lower rode in on the excellent Danish wave that also brought us previous tourmates Iceage and Vår among others. Following the melodic quartet’s 2012 EP, they released their full-length debut Seek Warmer Climes on Matador last year. We posted their album cuts “Lost Weight, Perfect Skin” and “Soft Option,” along with video premieres for “Bastard Tactics,” and “Daft Persuasion.” Now they have an upcoming EP, unforgettably titled I’m A Lazy Son…But I’m The Only Son. Lead single “At The Endless Party” is a melancholy tune that veers from Lower’s rowdy punk approach, with a backing piano verse and slow deepening guitars. Adrian Toubro’s vocals are pleading remnants of endless partying and a spinning hazy world. At the chorus, he sings, “Sweetheart take me as I am / Drag me to your chamber and toss me around.” It’s a dark and moody serenade that delivers lingering operatic impact. Listen below.
