Beach Fossils – “Down The Line” Video

Somersault is shaping up to be a fantastic comeback for Beach Fossils. Early singles “This Year” and “Saint Ivy” presented a more elegant and grown-up version of the former dazed lo-fi dreamers, and today’s new track “Down The Line” continues to demonstrate that evolution. In form and function, the hypnotic bass-drums groove that propels the song forward could have been an early Beach Fossils composition, but in this case it’s presented in clean, crisp fidelity with a confidently gentle touch. Also, I love Dustin Payseur’s lyric, “I’m thinking of you fondly/ When I’m on the train/ I really hate your poetry/ You hate mine the same.” And for those who miss the low production values of old, Payseur directed a grainy accompanying video for “Down The Line,” which you can watch below.

Somersault is out 6/2 on Bayonet. Pre-order it here.
