While the buskers of BTW Freelance Whales offered up a stopgap clip for Weathervanes standout “Generator ^ Second Floor” via live studio video, the real thing is a far artsier and life-affirming affair, helmed by director Maxwell Sorensen. The band’s dressed for a Mexican march of death, glockenspiel and banjo dutifully in tow, trudging through frosty snow. From there it’s all circle of life, resurrections and forests sprung from apples, in line with the “Life is short long enough / We will put this flesh into the ground again” mantra. The song’s fragile optimism and existential delicacy is custom tailored for movie licensing; consider this their resume for your next soundtrack.

Weathervanes is out via Mom + Pop.
