This video represents the latest element of the overlap between the morning benders, whose run in 2010 has been fairly phenomenal, and Girls, who went through a similar buzz-build last year: Chris from Girls cameoed in the benders’ viral smash live-take on “Excuses,” both bands are from San Francisco, both affiliated with True Panther Sounds (the imprint put out Girls’ Album and the 7″ for the benders’ “Promises“), and now both have videos directed by Aaron Brown and Ben Chappell of Focus Creeps. While the benders’ Focus Creeps clip has a lot less of Hunx and his junk, it does get somewhat scandalous with shots of two kids “can’t helping we grew up too fast,” smoking smokes, slinging machine guns, rolling around like some freeze dried hipster Bonnie & Clydes. That video’s here, as are the morning benders upcoming tour dates (in testament to that buzz-build thing mentioned earlier): dudes have sold out many of their headliners, and when they’re in support, it’s for the likes of the Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, Broken Bells, and the Black Keys. Which are popular bands FYI.
