The last time we saw a Besnard Lakes video it was a cinematic affair, Olga and Jace on the altar, full of flashbacks and dissolved romance. Again the Canadian rever rockers get filmic, with a star-crossed couple looking for patterns in static at a movie theater. All of which fits the marquee — the thundering “Albatross” soars sweetly and crashes into static. In the clip Albatross is the name of the theater, but the attraction is the band’s thunder-of-the gods widescreen post-rock cinema.

The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night is out 3/9 (3/8 in the UK), both via Jagjaguwar. It’s excellent.

I really love this album. Not my favorite song from it, but the whole album is really good.
