The folks at BBC are holding a poll to determine the UK’s Top Living Icons. At this point, they’re soliciting votes only for the Top 3, between David Attenborough, Paul McCartney, and Moz. Here’s the rest of the list, which reinforces that, save some obvs exceptions, we could never predict who’d turn up in a vote on British “icons.”

04. David Bowie
05. Michael Caine
06. Stephen Fry
07. Kate Bush
08. Alan Bennett
09. Kate Moss
10. Vivienne Westwood

Vote here. Who’s it gonna be? David Attenborough is very tempting …

That link says “Biog” not “Blog” der.

I’d just like to state, it says “Read Biog” not “Read Blog”.

And Paul Mccartney shouldn’t be eligable as a living icon. He died in a car crash many years ago, and was replaced by a look-a-like (according to some).

    Conspiracies are fun!

  3. Oh man, I was so close to pointing that out first.

    Moron.

What is responsible for the complete reevaluation of Morrisey in the last five years that has led him to be essentially deified by the British press? Anyone else remember when he was considered a racist, washed-up has-been in the latter half of the 90s?

    Ricky Gervais or nobody.

  8. Paul  |   Posted on Dec 5th, 2006 0

    The Queen!

What is John Cleese, a mirage?

But of those three, Attenborough is a shoo-in.

  10. If only Attenborough could sing!

Imagine what a world that would be.

All people fighting in wars would stop, put down their guns, and grab the air with joy.

The next stage of human evolution would be ushered in, as we all ascend to nirvana, bouyed by the voice of Attenborough.

    I voted for Pete Best.

  12. When you think about it it’s probably true that David Attenborough has seen more things and gone to more places than any other human being in history. Which is kindof impressive.
