A couple weeks ago we premiered the video for Beirut’s “La Llorona,” a track from the forthcoming March Of The Zapotec EP. As mentioned earlier, it comes packaged with another EP, Holland, which includes five solo Condon home recordings under his “Realpeople” moniker. Last night (1/26) at a last-minute show at Coco66 in Greenpoint, Zach Condon and his band performed a one of those Holland tracks, “The Concubine.” Of course, this live take’s different than the solo home recording, replacing a twinkling glockenspiel and shaker with a full band.

The video comes from lofi.tv, who give some background that will help you contextualize things:

The band contacted the venue, Coco66 at 4pm to request the space and took to the stage at 10pm. Zach and co road tested a bunch of new tracks and cracked out some old gold…

March Of The Zapotec/Holland is out 2/17 via Condon’s Pompeii Records/Ba Da Bing. Both will be available on vinyl via Obey Your Brain.

  1. despite what the BV commenters have to say, this was an excellent, jovial evening. Good times had, at least by the people in the front, where it sounded great.
