Cee Lo’s “Fuck You” Becomes “Fox News” For Colbert

By Amrit Singh / November 10, 2010

Cee Lo’s you-can’t-say-that-on-television hit “Fuck You” has propelled the man into the thicket of promotional consideration, a place he’s been before, though usually with less salaciously titled tracks. It’s not really a big problem — there are ways to scrub up a song, just ask Kanye about his Beautiful Dark Censored Fantasy — but it’s a wonderful faux-problem, particularly as the premise for Colbert’s inspired decision to get Cee Lo to substitute the hook for “Fox News,” with alternate lyrics penned by the Colbert writing staff. We have a little bit of that, the full and uncensored take on “Fuck You,” Colbert and Cee Lo’s Q&A session, and Mr. Green’s new video for “Bright Lights Bigger City.”
