“Lisztomania,” the standout single from Phoenix’s forthcoming fourth LP, is certainly ripe for remixing, and finally an official one has surfaced. In re-imagining the synthrock song for a chill discothèque LA DJ duo Classixx cut out every undeniable guitar riff, so not surprising their version doesn’t hold a candle to the original. Still, it’s fun to hear “Lisztomania” in a new light, and you could say that Classixx succeed at making “Lisztomania” even more ’80s, no easy feat. A few weeks ago we heard thirty seconds of the remix soundtracking a viral video for Kitsuné (it birthed the screengrab above, in case you were wondering). The complete track can be found 6/2 on the French fashion label’s Maison 7 comp or as a 90 second teaser now at MySpace (HT GvsB). Also worth tracking down is the Phoenix-curated Kitsuné Tabloid, a compilation of songs that inspired the band. Here’s that tracklist:

Kiss – “Love Theme From Kiss”
Dirty Projectors – “Rise Above”
The Red Crayola – “Victory Garden”
The Impressions – “I’ve Been Trying”
Chris Bell – “I Am The Cosmos”
Roxy Music – “Pyjamarama”
The 13th Floor Elevators – “I Had To Tell You”
Elvis Costello & The Attractions – “Shipbuilding”
D’Angelo – “Send It On”
Tangerine Dream – “Love On A Real Train”
Urge Overkill – “Stull (Part 1)”
Lô Borges – “Aos Barões”
Iggy Pop & James Williamson – “Master Charge”
Dennis Wilson – “Lady (Falling in Love)”
Irma Thomas – “It’s Raining”
Ritchie Valens – “In A Turkish Town”

I like how in the middle of their tour it now says Bonnaroo but they aren’t on the bill for Bonnaroo. To me that seems newsworthy, what other additions is Bonnaroo planning?!!
