As Thom’s on holiday from newspaper delivery, Radiohead will have a new single out this weekend. It’s a Record Store Day 12″ but it won’t be available in the States. So while you wait for “Supercollider” b/w “The Butcher” to appear on eBay check out these streams of the vinyl audio:
These tracks are the last you’ll hear from the King Of Limbs sessions according to a BBC 6 Music Q&A with Ed O’Brien. “‘The Butcher’ is from the [those] sessions,” said the guitarist. “‘Supercollider’ was recorded during that period and finished off after the album came out.”

You may have heard that tomorrow we will be releasing two tracks, Supercollider and The Butcher on 12″ vinyl through participating stores for Record Store Day.
This vinyl will also available in the USA & Canada on the 14th June.
Unfortunately, due to err…unforeseen circumstances that we didn’t foresee, some of the vinyl have the labels on the wrong way around. It is too late to recall the vinyl and stick them on the right way round, so here is a copy of the labels for those of you who wish to download, print, cut out and stick on yourself with pritt stick (other glues are available) thus correcting the error. Or we could just rename the songs.
Apologies for any confusion caused and have a happy Record Store Day.

Yup. These were recorded by an australian dude shooting video of his turntable with a cell phone, who is apparently still the only person on earth who has recorded any of these songs for the internet even though RSD is tomorrow.
A better recording HAS to be coming soon.

Not bad. I did this plus, replaced bloom with ‘These twisted words’ and the album sounds a whole lot stronger to me.
‘Supercollider’ REALLY feels like the continuation of ‘Separator’
I can only speak for myself, but being a Radiohead fan since “Creep” first came out, I can honestly say that they really don’t interest me anymore, which is sad for me to say. I more look forward to Donwood & Yorke’s album artwork more than the music these days. If they broke up after In Rainbows I would’ve been content. I’m just indifferent to The King of Limbs and these two songs. It just doesn’t sound like a total band effort anymore, but more like Thom Yorke solo material. They are most powerful when they play their guitars (i.e. “2+2=5″, “Bodysnatchers”, etc.). Leave the experimental electronics to those whom do it best (Flying Lotus, Ae, etc.). Maybe they are just trying to stay relevant to the younger generation that are getting excited over James Blake and Jamie XX, in that case I would say they are succeeding.

I love how, being a ‘Radiohead fan since “Creep” first came out’, you’re willing to write off the whole band after one contentious album. They’ve spent half their career making left-of-center electronic music. Get your head out of your ass.
I wasn’t attacking you personally so don’t take it that way. I’m merely stating my preferences that’s all. I love all their music. That’s not to say it’s a terrible album, it’s good. Kid A is quite possibly my favorite and that is arguably the most experimental. Personally I just think The King of Limbs would have been better as Atom’s For Peace’s debut album, as opposed to a new Radiohead album. Also, I’m just expressing my own growing tastes as I personally grow older and documenting this change on a music site that is supposed to be a place where idea’s can be shared and discussion can be had. Statements like “get your head out of your ass” are counter to this and discourage any type of elevated discussion. My opinions are my own and you are free to disagree, but no need to be a jerk.
i just don’t see how any fan could have been happy with them ending after in rainbows, Ill never be happy if radiohead ever split up, and if you don’t think this sounds like radiohead, oh well, but don’t go saying they are writing this way for a younger generation, they definitely are not writing this album to please anyone but themselves. If you don’t like it, don;t like it, but to say leave the experimental electronics to those who do it best? you said you loved kid A, well that was radiohead doing experimental electronics and they are one of the best at it. Do you not hear the beauty in Codex or Lotus Flower? Those 2 songs alone made everything worth it, oh well…. They make music I still love, and Ive been loving Radiohead a long time, I cant rate any album above the other, just as long as I keep getting to collect songs that make me feel that much more of all that is around me.

P.S: I think the most frustrating part about this album’s release is that people who haven’t liked Radiohead since they were a straightforward rock band finally got a straightforward rock album with In Rainbows. They were expecting them to keep going in that direction, and in true Radiohead fashion, they didn’t. It’s just Kid A all over again but with more space on the internet to bitch about it.
^^^ I’m not saying that TKOL is better/as good/on par than Kid A. Just squashing that shit storm now.
