Both MGMT and the Flaming Lips played the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis last Friday, and together they did this version of MGMT’s “Kids” during the latter band’s headlining set. Maybe it was a way to distract themselves from thinking about the other bands that played the festival that night (Jason Mraz, Slightly Stoopid, Everclear, etc.)? Wayne Coyne starts the mostly-acoustic cover when MGMT joins them onstage (to a lot of cheers). Watch:

  1. Is it just me, or does it sound like they were about to break into a cover of True Love Waits by Radiohead?
    Maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

  2. Campfire covers like this suck. Play something good!
