Sufjan Stevens directed this frenetic stop-motion clip for The Age Of Adz’s “Get Real Get Right,” extending the album’s visual aesthetic, linking to the colorful Adz live show, and offering momentary corpse paint in a Kabuki makeover. The art he’s cutting-up is by Royal Robertson, one of the folks featured in the previously mentioned documentary MAKE.

The Age Of Adz is out via Asthmatic Kitty. More info on MAKE at AK.

  1. Such a brilliant song… don’t know why the dude keeps saying that he’s not interested in song craft anymore, only crafting sound… this song is brilliantly crafted

  2. Everything he does he is 100% involved with. I love that. Shows he truly cares about the music he is making.

    • I agree. you can also tell that he cares alot about pushing himself to keep growing and discovering new sounds, and grow as a musician and arranger/songwriter…

In this way, the Age of Ads album reminds me of Michigan, since it’s sprawling and he seems to be having alot of fun exploring the new musical landscape that he has thrown himself into (in the case of michigan it was the more dense droney production after he had perfected his own style of minimalistic folk songs on Seven Swans), while also not losing the songs in the mix… i’d be pretty happy if his next album is the electronic equivalent of ‘Illinois’

  3. Does anyone know how to get the embedded code for pitchfork videos?

  4. I think Sufjan’s gone insane in the best kind of way.
