What we know of the new Pearl Jam LP: It’s called Backspacer and has art that looks like this, the first single’s a rocker called “The Fixer” and is also a Target commercial, and Target is also the album’s exclusive big box retailer (which means indie record stores will still sell it, should they choose to stock it). Also, we’ve heard “Speed Of Sound” which is not a Coldplay cover. Now another new one.

“The End” is, appropriately, Backspacer‘s closing song, here performed solo by Eddie during the encore to Pearl Jam’s show last night in London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. It’s EdVed with guitar alone in existential mode, which is all you need know to evince its heaviness. But if you need more, take the closing line of the song (and as it goes, the album): “I’m here, but not much longer.” How’s that for punctuation.

Bonus: Ronnie Wood joined the band on “All Along The Watchtower.” It went like this:

Another bit for PJ fans: the band’s filming a performance for Austin City Limits on 10/3. Maybe it’s worth heading down to ACL fest (and lining up for days to get into that taping) after all.
