The issue is that the creative aspects of the album's creation (composition and performance) are attributed to her while the technical aspects are attributed to her male collaborators while completely leaving out the fact that she co-produced the album. People writing about this album at the time did the same thing and it was equally grating then. I'm not attributing ill-intent to you and I can tell you really appreciate her as an artist but consciously or not there is inherent sexism in some of what you wrote.
It should be noted that Joanna co-produced the album and was heavily involved in the arrangements. She was not an ethereal creature whose pure feminine creativity was channeled through a bunch of male geniuses.
You might try The Complete David Bowie. It's not super heavy on anecdotes but it has information on the production of every song he's ever recorded, including as a producer (so the Iggy/Lou stuff is included). Lots of technical recording details, quotes from Bowie collaborators, and some good behind-the-scenes stuff. The author is a bit of a starry-eyed fanboy, but then, can you blame him?
The hardest part of rewatching Friends start to finish as a grownup is realizing what a completely unbearable character Ross is (the gay jokes are a close second). But I still love it.
Maybe I just like the show better because in the books the gay stuff is all subtext (so far) but on the show it's butts everywhere. Also it's easier to zone out when Jon Snow's around when watching TV than when reading.
"Books always and in all ways are better" is nearly always correct but speaking as someone currently limping to the end of A Clash of Kings, it is false as regards Game of Thrones.
If they love Guy Fieri so much they really should double down and name their next album "Welcome to Flavor Town"
If other people were as funny as Kelly I would pay them to publish their chat conversations.
I'm kind of curious to watch this show now but I can't imagine that it's as wonderful/terrible as you're making it sound!
Oh, and one final note... http://i58.tinypic.com/2u6e3wm.gif
I keep typing things about how much I love everybody and how bummed I am but none of it is coming out right and I tried to make one last Blingee that would pay proper tribute to this wonderful place but it came out really ugly but WHATEVER YOU CAN DEAL ALSO I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!! http://i57.tinypic.com/243m442.gif You know you love me, XOXO, catweazle :(

Thank you, Scott. I hope you know there are Monsters all over meeting in secret and trying to think of ways to help out any "keep Videogum alive-esque somehow" efforts as soon as we see the bat signal! This place is (was :( ) the bomb and I'm grateful that we had it for as long as we did.
To this day I am still haunted by the fact that I didn't rotate the wig slightly to the right in the Blingee I made out of that picture. http://i62.tinypic.com/bg6atc.gif
If anybody is looking to drown their sorrows tonight, I can guarantee that this Twilight drinking game will help (it resulted in one of the top three drunkest nights in my life): -Drink any time Bella says or does something that makes you feel worried about feminism -Drink any time Jacob takes off his shirt -Drink any time somebody shows off their magical vampire abilities -Drink any time two characters stare wordlessly at each other for at least three consecutive cuts
I think I'm just going to go read all the friendly chats now.
I had a dream last night that my apartment was infested with cockroaches and then I woke up to the nightmare of a world without Jay Leno on TV.
As Winston Churchill once said, "Go big or go home." http://i61.tinypic.com/20uy73q.gif
Remember the Monsters' Ball that week that was almost 100% Banana Sweater? AKA the best Monsters' Ball?
