Seven Saturdays is the project of Jonathan D. Haskell. A side-project at first, but on that eventually mirrored and extended Haskell’s primary, Rhodes-and-drums outfit (FIRS) so organically that they were fused into the ambient and cinematic chassis presented here, both in the brief but poetically provocative clip for “Shallow End,” and the affixed pair of MP3s. Think DNTEL, think Album Leaf, think AIR — this is music for thinking, or for dissipating early-day CMJ hangovers, or for artistically edited naked time in the bathroom. Fittingly intimate images for “Shallow End”‘s bared and vulnerable transitional swells. Not so fitting for your desk at work:
Seven Saturdays self-titled EP is out tomorrow, with a release show slated for tomorrow night at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. You can hear the rest of the EP at the band’s site (click MUSIC).
